I'm going to do a Wes Montogomery jazz marathon this week.
I will not allow myself to listen to any rock music that day.

You'll pass me one day, don't worry.

I remain unconvinced.

Perhaps. I've actually hardly been posting at all lately though. Today I've posted more than I have like the past 4 days combined.

Perhaps David will surpass both of us in post count.

Maybe someday though, definitely.

The Fall or The Legendary Pink Dots?

The Fall.  I'm currently obsessed with them.

Yeah, they're an incredible band honestly. I've kind of stumbled upon them out of pure luck. I saw they had a song called "I am Damo Suzuki" so I decided to get the album it was on (cause I love Can and Damo). I didn't expect the band to sound like that at all. I was in for a great surprise. Clap

Apparently that song actually borrows chords from Can songs.

What do you know by them besides This Nation's Saving Grace?

I'm still only discovering them, but Hex Enduction Hour is absolutely essential, maybe even better than TNSG (though they're both incredible).  And The Complete Peel Sessions Boxset is 7 hours of some of their best songs (I've only listened to half of it so far, but I'm sure the last three discs will be as good as the first three).

They have such a massive discography, but everything I've heard from it is at the very least good, and at best mindblowing.

Haha, well, I'd still much rather hear that than alot of music. But yeah, it's definitely my least favorite DT along with debut. It doesn't sound like DT at all to me; it feels soulless and I can't bring myself to listen to it because of that.

Yeah it is basically a song that borrow the chord progression of the song Oh Yeah and uses about the same drum beat. I do a tribute to both bands with my band. hehe.

I know I'll get more by them soon.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

I meant later this week for a day only, not the whole week, damn bad wording.

All of it. Some parts are worse than others though. I don't know; I just can feel vibes of insincerity in it... it's not DT being themselves to their full potential.

At least on Train of Thought and their other albums they're still DT. FII and debut are the only ones I really don't like, and I'm not really a fan of A Change of Seasons either.

Train of Thought is decent.

The rest range from excellent to absolutely mindblowingly incredible.

Ah!

FLAC Decoder for WinAMP now working with last.fm

I've also downloaded the last.fm player and it's updated my scrobbler .dll for WinAMP.  Woo!

Quite a nifty program that.

@Bern:

The only other studio album I have is The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall, which is good, but not TNSG or HEH good.

I also have 458489 A-Sides, a fabulous compilation, and of course the essential Peel Sessions boxset.

I heard last year's Imperial Wax Solvent, too, which was good but not great.

Ah, fair enough.
You complain about a lock of shred on the album, yet Hell's Kitchen has a fair bit of it.

Hell's Kitchen is one of the better ones, but I still don't particularly enjoy it as DT.

I don't know. Maybe one of these days I need to try listening to it without any preconceptions of what Dream Theater sounds like. That's kinda tough though.
