If only. But really, where did he come from? Last name I thought I'd hear

OH! And I went to that Obama rally yesterday. I got "overflow" section so I had to watch on screens Angry
If I knew that I would not have driven there and watched it on TV......

Ah well, I heard his voice at least. And it was the voice of the heavens LOL

This makes me so angry.

The President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Pentagon all think that building more F-22s is stupid since a war with China is unlikely, but Congress is adding back in 2 billion dollars for them because they represent states with airplane manufacturing facilities! And I believe that the military's stated goal is to increase jobs. While I think everyone here already hates Sen Chambliss, the WSJ article didn't mention that Rep Murtha added in 370 million for them in the House version of the bill, so I guess they're all guilty.

Ah, I've been waiting for when Bama and the Dems will finally start falling apart.
They held together fairly well, but with this health care fiasco and now this...

Speaking of which, Bama is supposed to talk about healthcare in literally minutes, wonder what he's got up his sleeve, esp since the CBO has said the plan will cost way more than originally anticipated.....hmm.....

""The F-22, to be blunt, does not make much sense anyplace else in the spectrum of conflict," Gates said. "Nonetheless, supporters of the F-22 lately have promoted its use for an ever expanding list of potential missions. These range from protecting the homeland from seaborne cruise missiles to, as one retired general recommended on TV, using F-22s to go after Somali pirates who in many cases are teenagers with AK-47s – a job we already know is better done at much less cost by three Navy SEALs. These are examples of how far-fetched some of the arguments have become for a program that has cost $65 billion – and counting – to produce 187 aircraft, not to mention the thousands of uniformed Air Force positions that were sacrificed to help pay for it."

Source

Keep in mind that those planes cost a f**kton to service and repair. I think it was that for every hour the fighter is in the air, it needs about 100 hours of service.

Because those in power have no problem with a NWO it seems. Reps/Dems = one party these days.

If we're talking "these days" we are already talking about a large number of days.  I will give the Dems credit for being marginally better. LOL
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

They are scaring me with all this crap that they are ramming through though. Don't read the bill just pass it. That to me is no better than the days of Congress when Newt was in charge of the NeoCons.

How are we going to pay for this healthcare that Obama wants? I am all for everyone having an option and care when it comes to healthcare but at what cost?

Speaking of which, the House's health care plan would make private medical insurance illegal. To quote the paragraph that discusses it...

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

Such action would mean about 120 million Americans would suddenly find themselves without insurance plans because their companies would no doubt get rid of them and switch over to government ones.
Gotta love how they don't think we should have a choice of where we get our health insurance. And given what happened in the past when the government competed with private companies, I think we all know where that would end up.

I really doubt that they're going to outlaw private health insurance, that's ridiculous.

God damn it Henry...quit saying things I agree with...

But yes it is true, they are not going to OUTLAW private health insurance. That's why it is a "public option" if you still want to keep your private doctor then you can.

What I'm curious about is whether or not the abortion thing will go in...
I hope not. I am pro-choice 100% un wavering....but you can not have tax payer money funding abortion.
Not only is it illegal, to my knowledge, but for those that are pro-life their taxes can't go to funding abortion.

Very unlikely. It would be a political suicide. But they definitely contemplate an eventual single payer system

I doubt even that.
Universal, single payer healthcare just will not work in America. It sounds like it is causing problems in England and we just will not accept it here.

I'm off for tonight guys. But before I go I shall leave you with this:
Every Republican today talks about fiscal restraint on everything.
Expected cost of this healthcare reform: $1.2 trillion
Iraq: $2.4 trillion
And I do not remember hearing a single Republican talk about fiscal restraint then
