I still have a plethora of Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Boston, April Wine, ect, ect, cds and lps that have nothing to do with prog and listen to them on a fairly regular basis. It's all just music, after all, no matter how many reviews and articles we write in the attempts to disect it.

Agreed.
I guess I should stop dwelling on what I don't know well and focus on my strengths in prog knowledge, which is towards the prog metal side of things.

Hey, if that's what you like.

There was a while there where I was only investing in things that I knew I should be listening to more (read: Post rock) and after I while I picked up a cd in a store and asked myself: "why the hell am I buying this? I'll listen to it twice, dislike it and it will gather dust on my shelf". So I put it away and saved myself $25.

Not saying that you SHOULDN'T explore new subs and new genres, just know what you like and know what you're going for.

Although I do not only listen to prog, I personally find almost all non-prog rock to be far too boring to listen to. But that's just me. ;-)

ELO's first few albums were prog related, and I don't listen to them near as much anymore. They were one of the first entry bands into music I ever really got into, and my sig spans the last 3 years of my life. Wink

I listen to the occasional non-prog band/artist, but that's it. About 98-99% of the music I hear is strictly prog.

Opeth is good. Clap

I've never eaten breakfast that late. I prefer lunch, so I just eat that if it's my first meal that late in the day.

I pretty much only listen to prog these days, although usually I don't listen to "prog" in the classic 70s sense as much. I'm more into the metal side of prog.

I have asked myself in recent times since I have listened to them a lot lately:
Deliverance... best Opeth album?
