by you putting on a Genesis cd, or subsequently, clicking on one of
their albums if you happen to use iTunes. If you have a turntable then
you probably took out of their records, placed it on the turntable,
ensured that the rpm was set properly and then put the needle on the
record.

Oh, a funny story I heard the other day. Apparently Dillinger Escape Plan and Disturbed hate each other because when they were on tour once, DEP came out on stage a bit before the show and saw the two guitarists for Disturbed going over when during the setlist they'd put their feet up on the amps. DEP criticized the other two guys about it and they said, "Oh, well DEP is just jealous because they have a nearly non-existent fanbase and nobody's ever heard of them, unlike Disturbed." So DEP countered with "Oh, at least we don't prefer to sell out to play arena rock, unlike DEP." Granted I don't listen to either band, but I thought it was funny as hell.

I never liked Disturbed. At all. I like DEP though, I was almost going to see them live, since they have a great reputation as a live band, but no money again

I can't stand nu-metal, period. I have thought about trying out DEP, since I was impressed with what samples I've heard. Where should I start with them?

I actually tend to think Steve Hackett's solo stuff kills anything Genesis did really. Especially his instrumental version of Firth of Fifth, killer song.

I've only got DEP's latest album, Ire Works. I love it to bits. Before DEP, I actually didn't listen to any Mathcore at all. In fact, this was during my phase were I didn't like much hardcore related stuff at all, but once I got used to the vocals, I realized their music was actually far more clever than it seems at face value.

I actually expected an album that was just a full onslaught of mathy metalcore stuff, but that wasn't the case. There was actually some more melodic moments in there, and one of the tracks is full blown post rock, which is a surprise since musically mathcore and post rock are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
