We got a half truckle of serious Wedmore a few years back; once you cut off the muslin & got through the rind, the cheese within was sharp, tangy & virtually burned the roof of your mouth.

Now that was cheese

we have some local Herefordshire farmhouse cheddar, sourced only through our local butchers...not only is it served under the counter, supplies only come in once a fortnight, and is labelled with a health warning (not to be given to under 14s etc).  If you go in and ask for some, our friendly butcher asks whether you've had it before, and if not, tried to divert your attention to the more mainstream cheddars on the counter..LOL

The roof of your mouth goes numb for at least an hour afterwards...LOL

So by definition you're referring to me as a young'un?

That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me...

[edit]

Correction - the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me was 15 years ago today, when Vicky said "I do"

Was that when you asked her if she liked the new Pallas album?

Hi All,

On the cheese front I just got back from Kos where the weather was fine and I had lots of Feta cheese and a very nice "Wine Cheese" which is similar to feta but kept in red wine for a while.  Very distinctive flavour.

Also a good chance to listen to a lot of the old favourites on the walkman: Caravan, Hatfield, Camel, Hawkwind, Genesis and many more had a good listening.Big%20smile
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

Hehe!  I love how specific this discussion has become.  And now for my two pennorth...

I've got to say, I never used to like beetroot (probably for the same school dinner/needless pickling related reasons as everyone else) but have gradually come to tolerate it.

I've always liked blue cheese, except cooked.  Ugh!! Dead

Margarine = grossness.  A small amount of butter is always better than lashings of unidentified grease. Dead Dead  Pet hate: "spreadable butter" that isn't really butter, it's butter-mixed-with-unspecified-vegetable-oil.  Ugh.

(Next I'll be saying 'we should all get rid of our fridges and have larders, if it wasn't for this pesky global warming...'  Ok, so I just did. Tongue)

Never tried Pernod but I've never heard anybody say anything nice about it, so I guess I'll remain a Pernod virgin!  I like fennel tea, though.  Very good for when you've eaten too much bread, butter, cheese and beetroot! LOL

On that note, I think it's time for lunch...

My ex girlfriend likes Beetroot, I believe.  I think I had it in a cake once.  Yes, a cake!  It wasn't that horrid.

I noticed some cooking show on the goggle box also used it for a cake the other day, so I guess my ex wasn't that odd!

Oh and I've had fennel in toothpaste... not in any other way.  I used to have some of my exes herbal teas though.  Some of them weren't too bad.

Maybe it was the pernod you had with Lee backstage beforehand?

Lee doesn't play trombone either...

Me's back. Presentation wasn't as flawless as I had planned, but someone else made up for that. For the first time in many presentations, I had the opportunity of replying to three times the same question from someone who had completely missed the point of what I told. The most effective way to distract the rest of the audience from a few glitches in my talk Big%20smile

This place is beginning to sound like the Monty Python cheese shop sketch.

Hi Angelo. Did you include Powerpoint in your presentation? I'm reminded of a meeting we went to at our new HQ which was kitted out with some of the latest gadgets. This one in particular had a touch sensitive (could have been movement sensitive) projection screen. To move to the next slide all you did was tap the main screen. This guy's presentation was going fine until he came to a bullet point on a slide that he wanted to emphasize upon the gathering and tapped the screen several times. Yup, you've guessed it -we had to wait whilst he manually returned to this slide.

Technology Huh!  Who needs it?

Well done on your presentation.

That reminds me of a guy who demonstrated a PC that you could control by voice commands. It was all going well until a guy stood up at the back and shouted "format c colon".

Sorry, that will only mean anything to those of you who know DOS.
