I think today's theme was loud and experimental.

Sleep - Dopesmoker
Neurosis - Times of Grace
Devil Doll - Dies Irae
Have A Nice Life - Deathconciousness

Glad to see someone else listens to Devil Doll!  So is Sleep's Dopesmoker anything like Electric Wizard's Dopethrone Question

Dopesmoker is a mite different than Dopethrone, haha. For one, the entire album encompasses one 63-minute track, along with an 11 or 9 minute live track depending on your version. The musical structure focuses on around 3-4 separate riffs, just kind of plodding along. A few awesome guitar solos are interspersed here and there. It's really a sonic journey, works a little better in a separate state of mind (if you know what I mean Smoke ).But in the larger picture, Dopesmoker and Dopethrone are two cornerstones of the stoner metal genre.

As for Devil Doll, they're highly underappreciated here at PA. Truly epic stuff.

Agreed.  I remember my 1st Devil Doll experience...was a few days before Halloween and as I was hanging spider webs I put on Eliogabalus.  I swear some of those spiders started moving Evil Smile

I've been struck with the tangerine dreammmmmmmscape again!!!
Sheesh!!! I guess it's all that sci-fi talk in prog. That forum is addictive.

Tangerine dream--force majeure(this has sci-fi elements in it)
Tangerine dream--Rubycon
Tangerine Dream--Hyperborea
Vangelis--Bladerunner soundtrack
Redemption--The fullness of time.

Notice how I always gotta sneak some metal in there.

My favourite Cathedral album...I love that band.  Their 1st 3 albums where they slowly morphed from doom to stoner metal are classic.  Even later albums that were more hit-or-miss had great songs like "Urko's Conquest", "Hopkins (The Witchfinder General)", "Vampire Sun" & "Corpsecycle".  Highly underrated in the US.
