"Machete"
I loved the original trailer from "Grindhouse". I just wish they made THAT movie. They filled it with extra villains, two love interests, politics and stuff that the fun was just drowned out.
It's OK, but I probably won't be watching it again.

^ Barfly one of my favorites
Re-watched Imagine after about 20 years, one of the better Lennon/Beatles history films, and allows you to see how quickly they went from rocking in a little club to jetset craziness. At times sad, joyous, difficult to watch. Probably the most authentic document of John between 1970 and 1980. |

Watched "They Came Back", a movie about what happens when thousands of recently deceased come back and find their loved ones, jobs, etc. Have moved on...it was French with English subtitles but really excellent. Definitely a challenging story.

Yeah! I watched that movie some time ago. It was quite awesome (in a Troma way). Tromeo and Juliet is a nice one too, with lines from Shakespeare's play read by Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead.. :) Oh, how I love when old art is hacked to pieces by new artists, like The Residents on 'Third Reich 'N Roll' Edited by Rottenhat - January 28 2011 at 13:16 |

"The House of the Devil"
Loved loved loved it. Great homage to the low budget horror flicks of the 70's and 80's. Not a slasher film, but a slow building thriller. Watching it, I kept getting the feeling that there's something happening just outside the picture frame.
Great cast, too. The main character looks like Margot Kidder as a teenager, and Tom Noonan is... well, Tom Noonan.
Recommended for fans of 70's horror thrillers like "Halloween".

I watched one-third of Bad Boys with a good friend of mine. We didn't really like it all that much. I, personally, was not sure if it was a comedy or an action flick because it kept jumping back and forth between the two.
5/10, I MIGHT go back and watch it. Edited by ThaNuke - February 05 2011 at 21:19 |

Just re-re-re-watched Inception which has been, since I first watched it - one of my favorite movies of all time. VIsually stunning, brilliantly written and even on repeated viewings still gives me the shivers. An easy 10/10.
Been watching at least a movie per day since December... I'll list them all at the end of the year Edited by King By-Tor - February 06 2011 at 00:38 |

It's not brilliantly written, it just had a brilliant concept.
The dialogue was atrocious.

I just watched "Lenny" last night. Great movie, and frankly sad to watch how absurd social norms of the times as well as local authority ruined a mans life.

^ that's a good one, I like the vintage doc. feel it has .. Bruce's second-to-last show was filmed in S.F.,1965 as The Lenny Bruce Performance Film, it's both an amazing and sad testament to what he was going through then and is a must if you're interested in his life and work at that troubled time

The American
George Clooney putters through Europe as a grizzled and increasingly disinterested assassin in this wistful try at a foreign-style suspense thriller, though little actually happens and we're forced to watch what is basically a killer in midlife depression; it don't exactly spell excitement. Subplots are suggested, tension builds, townsfolk continuously stare (everyone seems to know him as "The American"), secrets are passed and unspoken signals given, but little of it bears fruit. The odd mood and sleepy pace is appealing for awhile but with not much in way of plot and a telegraphed climax, we get a vehicle for Clooney better suited to someone with a more inward and genuine character. Like a middle-aged Jason Bourne with none of the fun. |

la battaglia di algeri... a masterpiece there is no doubt about that. a masterful technique beautiful direction no standouts just a story of a people's uprising director Gillo Pontecorvo takes no sides and takes an objective look to what happened in algeria between mid 50's to early 60's and does this with a very special and unique way and gives us (maybe) the first docu-drama or fake documentary...

Ah, the old "I don't like it because it's popular". Go ahead and deny it and say how much better Memento was |

"Piranha" (2010)
A lot of fun. Not scary at all, but tons of gory laughs. Lots of enjoyable over-acting (especially from Jerry O'Connell). The special effects were a bit overdone but still great.
Recommended for a laugh.

Breakfast Club - 8/10
-great movie, and practically defines high school, even if parts of it were corny and the ending made only a kind of sort of sense. Reality Bites - 6/10 -held together by 2nd/3rd-tier post-grunge which basically tried to make the constantly awkward dialogue less noticeable. It is soooo 90s. Maybe even the most 90s thing that exists, and not in a really good way like Clerks (to me). |

Righteous Kill
Tawdry depiction of two NYC detectives (DeNiro and Pacino) investigating the murders of the city's top criminals, leading them to the conclusion that it's a cop doing the killings. The film's main plotline is also its main twist, which is set up early on and pays-off in one of the most manipulative and cheap ways I've ever witnessed in movies. It should be ashamed of itself. Mediocre supporting cast including John Leguizamo and Don Wahlberg. |
