sorry if i wasn't clear ;) The band Le Silo is released on the label "Tutinoko", as is the band I sent yesterday, "pochakaite malko"

i thought the mention might infer the, ah, flavour of the music, as it were...[I know there are a lot of Le Silo fans here ;)]

Don't I feel sheepish...

no, you were clear, it's my mind that isn't clear...

I wanted to buy 8.8 in my Wayside purchase yesterday but it became too expensive...

Believe me, whatever you pay for 8.8 it's excellent value. One of the strongest releases from Japan in the last couple of years, which is saying something, and even Chris Cutler approves.

I thought Assaf had found his blue pill? LOL

Or have you lost your own one?

I don't have one to lose, I feel left out. Cry

Ah yes, I also plan to get 8.8.

And yes, I realise I am suppsed to be writing a bio... I'll get onto it soon.  I can get a band photo easily enough (even if the guys (and girl) from the band are eating in it).

Oh what a fine group of musicians they look! Wink

Le-silo plays at MIMIfestival,Marseilles France. The date of concert 28th july 2006. For Le-silo, this is the first concert in Europe, and you are fortunate enough to be able to see us play. Make sure to bring swim-suit with you and get together at MIMI fes. Marseilles.

Swimsuit? Shocked

Is this yours, Assaf?

Which was it in the Matrix that you need to take in order to not see how far the rabbit hole goes to?

I will also buy 8.8 soon. Chris really made me rethink it. And I also listened to it again and it is even better now.... What power do words have.

By the way, I am really enjoying the Uprostred Slov/In the Middle of Words by Uz Jsme Doma.

Also, I find their website to have some really nice pictures and design.

Nice one, Assaf. LOL

I need to relisten to 8.8, as I cannot remember exactly what sound they have.  I also need an opinion...

Do you think they deliberately named themselves with a French name, in honour of French bands that may have influenced them?

It would be cool to know why they named themselves that way.  Of course, all their track titles are French too.  It does make me wonder if they're influenced by Univers Zero and other French prog bands?

It does seem mighty mighty strange for them to do so.

Also, if you can find further information on Le Sillo, to aid me in writing a bio, I'd appreciate it.

I've started a bio, but it's not quite finished yet, but here it so far:

Le Silo, from Japan, are a 3-piece band, that play a widely influenced blend of demanding instrumental prog rock, which mostly takes the form of RIO and avant-jazz, with punk-rock stylistics, which is not only captivating, but well played.  By no means is their sound entirely original, but the musicianship is of a high quality and they do indeed have some very excellent and surprising moments too.  Originally starting life as Miyako (presumably named after Miyako Kanazawa), a punk orientated band; they eventually changed their style and their name to Le Silo, (some of their tracks have French titles too), presumably in honour of the French and Belgian bands that most likely influenced them.  The members of the band – Yoshiharu Izutsu (guitar and voice); Michiaki Suganuma (drums and voice) and Miyako Kanizawa (piano) – released their debut album 8.8 in 2004 on the Tutinoko label in Japan, which was produced by Ruins drummer Yoshida Tatsuya.

It needs work, this is just the first draft.

No idea...

The Silo?

A silo is to do with grain and stuff isn't it?

Or is silo not the same as silo in English?  Help us Assaf!

I'm thinking in getting a Ruins album and I have this ones to choose from:

Pallaschtom
Stonehenge

Wich one is better?
