It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on earth has ever produced the expression "As pretty as an airport."

I was considering Mostly Harmless, but since we're on such a lull, I thought this was more appropriate.

That reminds me.  I've read all five books of the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy but really must one day read again.  There's so much to take in!

Great read though. Clap

Hitchhiker's is good stuff. I started to read Dirk Gently and I didn't like it as much, but it's a nice title I think.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is even better.  Trust me (or not LOL).  I love that book.  I must read the follow-up, actually.

The thing about Dirk Gently I love is that well... the humour is subtle for one thing and secondly is that the book actually flows properly.  Hitch Hiker's has had bits added to it (like the fifth book which was written in 1993, I think) and it doesn't quite feel so "together".

Hahaha, that's better than Obama Fingers.

I changed the title again because I'm annoying.

I'll get around to reading Dirk Gently some day James but I just didn't find it as funny because he kept getting into...I don't remember exactly what.

I finally listened to IPOL for the first time and I must say that in my opinion it was awful.  To me, Dagmar Krause has one of those voices that causes the same spine chilling effect as fingernails on the chalkboard.  I can see how Peter Hamill fans enjoy her though because she sings with the same kind of out of tune incantations to fit the music that he does.  I guess in a way that is what makes it different than the more pleasant in-tune singers that all sound the same and thus it appeals to you progheads.

Also, what is the deal with Beginning: The Long March?  That sounded like the individual members of an orchestra warming up before the concert.  None of the instruments seem to be playing with each other.  I guess that is why it is called rock in opposition????   I suppose that I am being rude by disparaging a group that many of you really enjoy but the gist of my post is I just don't get the appeal of this band or at least this album.  I'd like to be able to be "one of the guys" and gush over the Cow the way the rest of you do, but they mostly do nothing for me.  Ah well, I guess that I am just not cut out to be a RIOer.

The most important part is that you're open to checking it all out.

You checked the worst album first, unfortunately.  Dagmar Krause only appears on that album too.  The other's do not feature her. Wink

And yes, I do hear sometimes a Krause/Hammill similarity but Alex hates Hammill's voice but loves Krause.  I'm not sure why that is. Confused

I prefer Hammill's voice to Krause. LOL

Only on War does she really have that chalkboard-scraping voice.  She's not so bad on the other tracks.  Try it again and try not to give another go sometime in the future.

I always try and give albums 3 or 4 listens before writing them off.
