I didn’t say that. According to Wiki, the term has also been applied to all the visual (non-literary, non-musical) arts, and if that’s what you mean, the answer is yes.

Notorious? For me that’s a very negative word. I would rather say that he became famous in the second half of the 20th century, and more in Europe than in America.
