Iron Maiden - always my favourite metal band after I bought 'The Soundhouse Tapes' at a NWOBHM gig when they were third on the bill. Disappointed initially when Paul left, but Bruce sent the band in a different direction and often quite proggy too. A mid-career lull (like many bands) but they have come back even stronger following Bruce's return. Metallica never did it for me beyond the obvious 'hits' on classic rock stations.
