So, as of next year it'll be five years since 10,000 Days came out... What are the chances of a new Tool album that year?

Given their release patterns, I'd say it's honestly anywhere from 0%-100%. But I don't get what people see in them, so I don't really care.

Did you have to sell a kidney and a leg to get them?

You mean besides the fact that I think Tool would improve significantly by making shorter albums with less filler?

I got them for free from my neighbor
And I agree, Tool needs less filler. I thought you were implying that you...
*cough*
...didn't like Tool.

I'm with David on this one... don't really see what the big fuss about Tool is. Lateralus has some nice tracks, but yeah, a lot is pure, unadultered filler. f**k me, right?

No, you were right. I don't like Tool. Their enormous amounts of filler drag them waaaaaaaaaaay down for me.

Lateralus is a masterpiece.

Lateralus is easily my least favorite Tool album. It's probably the only one I don't listen to anymore.

I never got Tool either, but I accept them as a major band. Too many of my friends and of the people who share my tastes are fans of them. I can live with it.

Now AEnima, holy sh*t. Masterpiece. The filler isn't in that album just to be filler, it serves a purpose of preparing to each following song.

Lateralus on the other hand, is, dare I say it, pretentious.

Don't get me wrong, when Tool is good, they're really good. But it annoys me extremely that they think they have to make albums that are always really f**king long. Because most long albums generally have too much filler IMO. Heck, one of my favorite albums from this year is a mere 28 minutes and has zero filler. Bands that make long albums with too much filler suffer from what I call "The Tool Syndrome".

Ænima is damn good, don't get me wrong, but I think the filler on Lateralus is much better.
