Don't humor him with smiley faces and positive sarcasm -- you're only feeding the troll. People like him are the most disgusting thing on forums above all the people who make inane comments. I can't stand him in the least. Edited by agProgger - June 17 2008 at 20:37 |

We have to lighten up a bit, I think. He confesses to a twisted sense of humour, and he has honestly and consistently argued for a position. I don't agree with it, but his review is consistent with his broad position on progressive rock. Further, he employs an excellent range of musical knowledge, even if he bludgeons rather than finesses with it. He's annoyed a lot of people, but has stimulated some thoughtful discussion with regards the fuzzy boundaries of progressive rock. I could wish it had been a little more polite, but it's the message, surely, that is the important thing? |

It's a first to see Certif1ed being accused of being a troll..
Well... we all know logic and wisdom are rare.... imagine both of them together!
Again, I love new members who have less than 50 posts and start throwing the "troll" accusation to everybody

Lol ... from the track ratings I calculate an average of 7.0 (3.5 stars), yet you've given it 2 stars. |

Do you really think that because you're not using any nasty words one will be upset? Not that you're not allowed to, but of course you're hurting people. Swearing or not only has to do with people's different temper and culture. Some include a sh*t , f**k and a t**t in just about every sentence. What review would naturally upset the artist the most? A f**king masterpiece! (dumb fanboy) Nickelback and Spinal Tap (twisted sense of humour) |

I still fail to see anything insulting or even rude about the twisted sense of humour there - please explain.

The vocals sound like Nickelback's vocalist to me.
I like Nickelback.
How much clearer can I make it.
Oh well.
I'm sure it's not Mikael, after all, he has not only a reputation, but a legal position to consider.

Do you really think you should have posted that?
I may be disgusting to you, but I can read, and I have a twisted sense of humour - I might have said.

if the previous poster (the one Certif1ed quoted) had known any better they'd know actual trolls aren't really tolerated on PA, in fact, PA is a bubble compared to most other forums....its nice that way

As Proven by my now-legendary Kayo Dot review of 2007, my ratings are not an avergae of tracks, but rather a measure of the whole experience. If a record starts fine (as this one or -to a degree- even Kayo Dot's DAWCT did) but utterly destroys everything at the end, the rating suffers. Opeth started with a sure 4... but after the fourth track the experience got so boring that the enjoyment of the cd as a WHOLE died completely... It's like a movie: if it starts wondefully but halfway down it becomes a borefest, is it still a good movie? That's why I -sometimes, I'm lazy these days- give individual ratings for songs.. so that I can still say good things about good tracks.. but the rating is for the whole experience. And Watershed is a long, tedious repetitive borefest after we reach the half of the record.

Actually... you might be surprised... or not.
The accusation is not unfounded - there are many types of troll, some incredibly devious, some incredibly stupid, some downright nasty, and some intelligent - there is really an intelligent and beneficial way to troll.
As I've been lurking around the Internet since 1995 or so, I do not see the word as an insult, as there are so many types of troll - the word has only become an insult to those who do not know its history, as over-use in one sense has robbed it of the rich connotations it used to have.
I tried Googling this, and nothing turns up easily - I'll have a longer search when I get a bit more time.
Internet trolling ain't what it used ter be - that's fer sure.
Last word on my review - if it's rude or insulting, how come no-one has reported it?
If you think it is, then PLEASE report it in the proper thread, highlighting the specific parts that fit this description, and I promise I will take it seriously.
Troll (according to my definition) I may be sometimes - but I rarely bite.
...OK, maybe just a little twisted humour... but you all know me by now

^ I wouldn't call it insulting or offensive ... it's just cruel and unfair from the perspective of people who like Opeth. Still, since it is based on your opinion it is a valid review.
But you shouldn't be surprised when in future discussions people say "don't listen to what Certif1ed said, he also thinks that Opeth - Coil sounds like Nickelback". |

I don't need to explain, because I didn't write that. I'm just surprised that someone like yourself is suddenly going all naive and innocent. Are you really deeply disturbed by other people swearing, and do you really think that no one will be upset by your opinons if you use humour and don't swear? I never swear either (and have a twisted sense of humour that atleast some notice), but still Debrewguy, The T etc takes offence every time I write something here.
