I came acrossed an interesting article in an article from Rolling Stone regarding The Dark Side of the Moon. Just thought that I would attach a link in case anyone was interested in it. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/surviving-members-of-pink-floyd-revisit-dark-side-band-tensions-20110928 |

That's awesome, because I'm 17 and Floyd was my 'gateway' into prog. Because of Floyd I discovered Camel which really kicked it off. Dark Side and Animals remain my favorite Floyd albums, but they're all so unique and amazing in their own ways.

I searched for a Rick Wright appreciation thread, but the machine won't work....
Anyway this was the closest I came, after having looked through about a gazillion pages worth of threads. I just realised now, that Rick Wright is dead. I know, 2008 and it's not like I didn't register it either, but tonight I listened to More walking outside in the darkness, and it dawned on me during freakin goosebumps city - just how much this man's music means to me. How much his keys, synths and perhaps my all-time fave the farfisa, were the soundtrack of my life. I know every lead of his by heart, and his fragile vocals often paired up with him playing a raw piano were often some of my favorite happy and strangely British moments on those early Floyd albums. Too much man.... I swear, I felt like weeping for a week. Thank you for the music Rick. I am putting Cirrus Minor on again in your honor |

He was an amazing part of their sound from that great organ in the Syd days...what was it called? Farfisa I think? And then his gentle moods and vocals in the Dark Side era, and those trippy sounds on Wish.

Wish You Were Here...i recently decided that this was my all time favorite prog album. I could listen to the title track and shine on forever. it' might even be in my top ten of all time...that one includes neil young's on the beach.

Indeed, I love Wish you Were Here. I used to say it was my favourite album of all time, but now, I don't know, it's kind of useless to state a favourite album, favourite band, favourite song, there are just so many so good that I just have to enjoy them all. I guess I just have to include them into the club of my very favourites. Even from Pink Floyd, at least Animals has grown on me up to just the same status of enjoyment. However, still if I had to name my very favourite band, I would have to say Pink Floyd, my favourite album, I would have to say Wish you were Here, my favourite song, I would have to say Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all parts together), even if it is just out of habit.

A minority view here I suppose... I rate both DSOTM and Animals much higher than Wish You Were Here. I just think they have aged better.
