I wish I had included a DVD Poll...I rated Fish's "Return To Childhood" second only to "Arriving Somewhere" by PT. The visual quality was surprisingly top-notch and though Mr Dick couldnt afford a 5.1 mix the sound was good too. Of course Rush's Replay x3 was technically a reissue.... |

I only have one album off that list ,the much over hyped Frost album (3 stars at best IMO).I'm just listening to some of the samples on the site and the Kayo Dot stuff would just send me to sleep to be honest while the PFM stuff sounds like the kind of boring jazz rock that the likes of Brand X chucked out in the seventies.I may get the Steve Hackett album as I like him generally. The PRR stuff sounds interesting and more up my street and I like Tool so I may get that as well.

I gave it a spin for the first time yesterday, and even thoug I wasn't fully concentrated on the music, there were some bits that definitly stuck.
As to Kayo Dot, I was just listening to it for a second time. I really enjoyed the first three tracks and some of ____ On limpid form, but I have to say the albums looses focus and interest halfway through that song. That might not seem much, but when the two final tracks represent more than half of the album lenght, that cannot be a good thing. Hope a few more listens will do the trick...

^ the last song is better than On Limpid Form, which is the weakest track. But that's no reason to bash the album, at least not for me. It fails on a high level.

Well, as I will write in my new review, now I strongly disagree with the choice for album of the year.

![]() ![]() "Then, THE INCREDIBLE: MUSIC!" awesome review, though I consider KD's album a good one(3 star in a whole). That's maybe because I like Doom and use to play that kind of music in a band |

Then you risk that your review will be deleted. A review is supposed to describe one particular album, it's not a platform for complaints. |

I cannot believe Mastodon's 'Blood mountain' did not make the top 10, my choice for album of the year. Also Zero Hour's 'Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond' for me is not far behind. A criminally overlooked album and band.

An interesting list. Cant say that I remember seeing many votes for the PFM album, but there you go.... I am surprised about the Kayo Dot album as I find Dowsing to be far inferieor to Choirs Of The Eye. Amputechture should have ended up much higher IMO.

I know that. Don't worry, read it and you'll see I review the album and make my arguments very clear. Not bashing for bashing's sake, so to speak. I wouldn't like my review to be deleted just because I don't agree with the "album of the year"... If one of my reviews is ever deleted, I hope it would be because it's insulting, has no coherence, is just a bashing post disguised as review, or something like that. EDIT: But you'll never see me writing like that. No unless I get intoxicated with mushrooms that weren't supossed to be eaten. ![]() Edited by The T - January 20 2007 at 14:37 |

How did Wild Orchids end up at number three? It's so dull and uninspiring and I usually like Hackett
