John Wetton played bass for Family (isn't that the name?) before joining King Crimson.

Sly and the Family Stone are NOT progressive at all. Being 18, I am ashamed I even know about them. I blame my dad for keeping his 70s records.

Sly & The Family Stone performed at Woodstock in 1969 and played am medley which included the song "I Want To Take You Higher"

To Crimson Prince: No need to be ashamed , surely you don't want your kids to be ashamed when they remember listening to your music in a couple of years!!

The beautiful and buxom Adrienne Barbeau did a wild dance to that number back on the 70s ("All In the Family" spinoff) sit-com "Maude," and made quite the impression on me!TongueArrroooo!Big smileEmbarrassed

"boom shak-a-lak-a-lak-a...."Pig

OOPS! I was meant to stick to music, wasn't I? My mistake! Embarrassed

OK: Other fine Sly (Sylvester Stewart) and the Family Stone songs included "It's a Family Affair" and "Everyday People." One of my favourite Steve Hackett tracks is "Everyday," which has an anti-drug theme. (Sly Stone was troubled by serious drug problems, especially after his career peaked.)

Whew! Smile

They can listen to any of my music they want, just not my Beatle's vinyl or my first pressing of Moving Pictures.

Steve Hackett's album "Please Don't Touch" featured artists like Phil Ehart of 'Kansas' and Chester Thompson, who played drums for 'Genesis'.

Ex Beatle John lennon and "the Dirty Mac" appear on the excellent Rolling Stones "Rock and Roll Circus" DVD, as do a very young Jethro Tull, doing a spot-on version of the rocking "Song for Jeffrey." Too cool! Cool

The Rolling Stones played a free concert in Hyde Park (London) after the death of Brian Jones, who drowned in his swimming-pool.

Hyde Park is the name of my favourite track on Tangerine Dream's "Le Parc."

LZ III also has a track called 'Hats Off To (Roy) Harper', a tribute to Jimmy Page's friend Roy Harper.
