It's the other way 'round with me - I haven't seen any Japanese movies at all, apart from Godzilla. Tongue

I have seen several Chinese chop-socky movies though, mainly starring either Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee.

But I like much the 8 albums I have in my collection, and that's at least some.

Now you must move on to Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Jaa, Mark Dacascos, and...

...CYNTHIA ROTHROCK.

^ Michelle Yeoh sounds familiar. I may have seen her in a Bond movie.

I'd still say, the Asians are the prime, like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I love CTHD but there exist literally decades of superb HK-MA movies that predate it. Cynthia Rothrock's debut was in Yes, Madam! — that film ignited a new wave of martial arts action films featuring female leads. Rothrock got second billing and fought alongside headliner Michelle Yeoh.

More great movies from the '80s-90s!

Wheels on Meals (1984) (Jackie Chan vs. Benny "The Jet" Urquidez) (superb choreography)
Police Story (1985) (Jackie Chan's influential landmark film with truly exceptional action sequences)
Righting Wrongs (1986) (Cynthia Rothrock vs. Karen Sheperd) (GIF below)
Dragons Forever (1988) (Chan vs. Urquidez II) (one of the best HK-MA films ever made)
China O'Brien (1990) (Rothrock)
Supercop (1992) (a milestone for Yeoh)
The Heroic Trio (1993) (Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, and the late Anita Mui)
Wing Chun (1994) (Yeoh)

The same question has been asked many times about Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne too. A doctor once told Keith Richards he had just 6 months to live and Keef said he later went to the doctor's funeral. True story! Shocked

Old rockers never die - they just  f-f-f-f-fade away. Wink

All this talk of Hong Kong Phooey chop socky movies just reminded me of this quirky little number by Siouxsie and and Banshees.

It "appears" we're unable to view it on this side of the pond. Which song?

Hong Kong Garden. Here's another video of the same song, so I hope you have better luck with this one. Smile

Okay, we're back on track (thanks to Cristi) and we've now reached the letter "N" for Nippon in the A-Z round-up of prog-rock artists from the land of Harajuku girls, love hotels, cuddle cafes, wacky game shows and automatic ice cream robots! By the way, have you  ever wondered why you never hear any funky Japanese soul music? I'm guessing it's because "Heaven is in the Backseat of My Nissan Sunny" doesn't sound nearly as seductive as "Heaven is in the Backseat of My Cadillac". Tongue

Well, you've come to the right place if you want to hear more. At the moment, I'm just listing artists, but starting in January, it'll be all aboard the Shinkansen express for a grand tour of Japanese Symphonic Prog, and from what I've heard of it so far, I'll be very surprised if there are any albums I dislike. Thumbs Up
