It's certainly more accessible than OTABH. Did you order it on vinyl? I'm not sure if it works well since it splits the song in two.
I haven't placed the order yet but Discogs has OTABH available on both black vinyl and magenta vinyl.

Kinda knew this was gonna happen, but you can Definitely add Fates Warning's: Theories Of Flight to my top albums this year.
I can't get over how good FW is. Their longevity is amazing. Absolutely ageless band cause they keep getting better and they try different things. One of the best bands I know of in all my time and research into Prog and music in general. 33 yrs of kicking ass.

A dog fight now for #1 now.
Top 3 for now are (in no order yet)

1) oceans of slumber -- Winter
2) Headspace-- all that you fear is gone
3) FW- theories of flight.

I don't know how I'm gonna pick a #1 this year.
It's tough.

Warpicks "Age of Exploration" is pretty good.  I like the new Macroscream and Stefano Testa albums too. 

Grappling was another monster from Tea Club, unfortunately it came very late 2015 rather than early 2016, thus missing its proper accolades in our poll.

The Niechęć album is a winner.  If you don't know their previous record Smierc W Miekkim Futerku it's worth hearing as well, damn good stuff.

I completely missed this Simon, but I'm thrilled to see some love for those mad BraziliansBig smile Maybe I should swing em by the avant quarters and see what's what. I could definitely see them included on PA somewhere.
That actually goes for the Niechec (my keyboard is unwilling to branch out into progressive letters and the much revered Cyrillic system) album as well. Sounds like fusion to me.

Just thought of some others while eating a marvellous banana. I'll link the buggers so as we don't end up with this huge JooToob fest that takes a month to loadBig smile

Fire! The Fire! Orchestra origin with Mats Gustaffson being his mad self on sax though on here fondled up nicely by a psychedelic-like ambience and some general weirdness to boot.
Bent Knee Much preferred to a straight one. It is indeed true! It bends!
Our Solar System Quite possibly the best new discovery of 2016. Druids doing Krautrock (and LSD).

Agreed. The debut though was a kind of cover album. Awo is comprised of tunes they've stitched together themselves.
I really enjoy the Ethiopian touch to these guys. Feels like a more out there Rahmann with the add on of delirious vocals.

Bent Knee are top 3 on the year for me so far, they seem to have had a hugely successful European tour in the last month. I get spoilt seeing them regular in Boston. Looking forward to seeing them again at ProgDay.

With the new album I could definitely see them having a chance to get on the site. It's certainly got more 'rock' than the previous one, which was more in the nu jazz bracket. Though anyone who likes one will probably like the other, I reckon.

I had no idea they just toured EuropeShocked Now I am curious to see if they popped by Denmark...or maybe not. I'd certainly come down with a huge case of depression if it turns out I actually had the chance to see them liveOuch
I'm not sure about anything pertaining to AOTY yet. Great year so far and if the past couple ones are anything to go by, then it'll probably go into hyperdrive the closer we get to the end of Dec/Jan. I hope my wallet can survive.
