I don't know where to start with Shostakovich.  Any ideas?

The problem is that cinema as art seems to cherish values completely opposite to mine. Art music is about adding complexity, while art movies strip everything away so we're just left with a series of images with no dialogue and minimal music. At least the artsy films that are mainstream enough for me to have seen parts of--I don't know or care about foreign films or the little movies that are too small to show up on Netflix.

Ah, I see.

It's fun to read one of the greatest avantgarde music fans here complaining about avantgarde film LOL

Eliminating narrative sense out of the work would be the first thing to do with a film in order to experiment with it. If I were to judge it after the description, Eraserhead doesn't even seem to be very avantgarde.

There's still half of it (as in the rest of the week), but I don't think it'll change things. I think it was pretty clear what archiving pointless work I did on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday I went out a bit, searching for a book and ending up buying five different ones. But I was back in the room, listening to hours of music, once photophobia kicked in. Studying these days means getting back to the rest of the contest repertoire that I didn't prepare for exams, but I doubt I'll progress a lot in just these days. I'm probably meeting a colleague today, if he's not busy making business with Marius Giura this whole afternoon.

That's too bad, sorry. Myself I'm on a sort of permanent vacation here, but sometimes I want to swap places with someone else. Tongue

I don't know, but he's turning into an organ music manager with each day that passes. In this case, he vaguely told me he'd like to bring an organist to the local jazz festival or something.

Wow, that sounds very interesting. But do you know organ/jazz, or would you be interested in them?

Not sure where you're getting at, concerning me.

Describe your life of the past days (other than that small point about permanent vacation, made earlier), just like you asked me to do. Tongue

Oh, you may have wanted to ask "how's you" and it turned out "who's you" Smile

Well, yesterday my future mother in law left, but it was a very tough day. We missed the plane because of troubles with the trains and after that, when coming back home, there was no bus from the railway station to home as they canceled it because of a little snow. Typical French incompetence and laziness.

The five days with Mrs. Manea were also very tiring, I'm happy this is over and I can get back to my life now.

It's strange, I can't live with only one hour of internet per day! It has taken over my life!
