First batch from the weekend came in. Except for the sleeve of Foxtrot, which has a bit of tape on one side, all sleeves are near mint, and the records as well. Now waiting for the two Bowie-albums, which in the mean time have become 6(!) Bowie albums...

I got them on a Dutch site (marktplaats) for second hand things. Similar to (and acquired a few years ago by) e-Bay, but sligthly different. There not that hard to get, but this was a super bargain - if the Bowie's have the same quality, I end up with 18 albums for less than 10 euro a piece (including shipping).

Bought it all from two men selling their record collections...

My local used record store guy has a list from me of stuff to buy if he sees it at an auction or estate sales/auctions. He recently came into about 100 7" reel to reel tapes pre-recorded albums from an estate sale.....He paid $100 for them all and sold about half already at $8-$12 each.....There were some rock albums in there he has gotten $15-20. He is even getting requests to find cassette tapes, what used to sell at GW for $0.25 are now going for $3-5 and more.

Its insane at what is going on with vintage used media right now......Hold on to your old stuff if you have it.

seriously - cassettes?  I have boxes of them in storage.
I wont get rid of anything if I don't have it on a better format (and I wont get vinyl period)
but I have a stack of vinyl doubles about 4 feet high

Well cassette albums are selling for decent money these days, there are plenty of folks still using them. Guys are buying cassette decks at GW for $5 and getting them up to speed........If you have good condition tape whether pre-recorded or on blank tape, you might be surprised what someone will pay you.

I have quite a few cassettes but not interested in selling, even though I have no desire to get a tape deck.

its getting tougher to find playable 70's music in thrift stores these days .. like you mentioned above ..
You can find decent 80's collections from time to time but I don't think people get rid of their older album collections as you mentioned.  Junk yes - but not the good stuff and if so - it's scratched all to hell.

I still have a tape deck .. I had 2 but recently found out one of them had died (it was consistantly the least durable audio hardware ever. I don't know what the deal is with those things)

I'm not about to dump my tape collection if I don't have the same albums on vinyl or CD - and I especially love revisiting old mix tapes I made decades ago ...

I've seen somewhere - Facebook I think, where there was a page featuring cassette tape art - the kind people did them selves on their mixed tapes ... what a cool blast from the past

it just occurred to me .. when I get all of my stuff out of storage, I should pull the more interesting doubles out of the pile, check the condition, and offer them up here if they pass muster.

I wouldn't want money for them ... if someone wanted to pay for the shipping they could just have them..

Your most selfless intentions have been duly noted and greeted with a great degree of gritty greed (the last 8 ords are a tongue-twister .. that's how my mind works Wacko)

I still have cassettes from the late 70s and 80s when most cars came with cassette players. Most of them are "hair bands" or early metal and I haven't replaced all of the titles with CDs.
Somewhere in the garage I have a couple of boxes of 4-tracks and 8-tracks. I also have a 4-track tape deck and an 8-track tape deck that I hang onto for the heck of it.
My boom box (like most of them) has a CD player on top and a cassette player in the front. If I feel like hearing Skid Row, Lynch Mob, Testament, etc. I'll take the box down from the top of the closet.
