This is where I'm at. I'm still getting around in a 'wreck-on-wheels' because my priorities are Prog vinyl and travelling.
Having said, currently in Florida, with Magenta's 27 Club on my iPod. Thats all I need for a few weeks, no Prog withdrawal symptoms (yet....)

All I want is a tiny, basic spec, red Veloster, for my mid-life crisis.

I had made a New Year's resolution that instead of impulsive buying records, CD's and music paraphernalia like there is no tomorrow I am going to play what I have on what I have, and save money for durable consumer goods, so I may explore the joys of deferred gratification.

Looking at the first 4 days of 2015 .. $78.96 is gone. This is $7.2K per annum pro rata. A Veloster every 2.5 to 3 years. Something to think about.

For the last 20 years my vinyl has been stored in the basement (since October it's been in storage)

Over the last 2 weeks I've been bringing it back to my new house where there's a built-in wall sized shelving unit (the house was a deli years ago)

I'm opening the boxes and it's like discovering treasure - i haven't seen it in so long i'd forgotten what i had.

I started buying vinyl in the late 70's - early 80's and prog was a huge part of the collection (i have several 1000's of LPs)

I feel like a kid in a candy store.

I don't spray any AS solution on my vinyl.....essentially you are fine just misting the air with water as that usually eliminates any static. What I do use to control static is a can of Static Guard, just spray near around your gear...NEVER ON THE GEAR OR VINYL!!!!!!!....but on the carpet floor to help eliminate static. During winter time here in PNW I keep a small bowl of water near my TT to help add moisture to the air.

I do use a anti-static brush on my vinyl before play.

About the sound, it barely has any surface noise like José said, which makes 'Providence' a wonderful experience, and also no volume issues. The quality is amazing and all those low volume tracks are easily perceived.... and 'Starless' gave me goosebumps Approve
Long story short, it's a glorious release of a glorious album Big smile

Ahh yes......these new issues with the Fripp approved remasters are glorious......nuff said!

Never had to deal with mold....I think vinyl is pretty tough so you could try scrubbing them in the sink with a brush, I use the flat soft painters brushes to scrub my $1 bin finds. Solution wise anything but bleach I suspect is ok...

^ Mold will definitely come off the record itself. It can ruin the jacket, though

Usually rubbing a barely damp soft cloth along the vinyl gets rid of mould.
I've heard the odd engineer talk about spraying vinyl with 'windex' (that blue window cleaning fluid) as a way to clean LP's but I, myself, have never tried this.
Vinyls are pretty durable when looked after of course, but dust, heat and greasy fingerprints can ruin the surface in a flash. Scratches, on the other hand, are downright EVIL. Track wear can look pretty horrid on a vinyl surface, yet usually doesn't impair the sound quality by much.

There's also a carbon fibre brush that's available. I have one which I rarely use. Whenever I have, it has not made any difference.

I have washed records in the sink with water and a dab of soap. Those suckers are hardy. Most of my Rolling Stones records I bought used for a few bucks apiece sound like new after that.

no warpage at all - I packed them carefully.
Oddly enough - 3 of my laserdiscs did warp because they got between the cover flap of the box somehow. i'm currently trying to reverse the process.

I've always been very careful with my albums. Always put away in the sleeves. I used to buy those plastic lined insert sleeves when I could find them.
I bought a lot used - many of those have tics and pops but if they're minor I find it a kind of warm nostalgic sound. (which is why people keep sampling it on new albums I suppose)

As far as vinyl/CD goes ... I will always look to get the CD versions of the vinyl I already have for one reason - I have a 1 hour commute 2X a day. I listen to music the entire time. I cannot play vinyl in the car.

I don't replace the vinyl, I keep it for playing at home.

I have a Sony turntable with a USB port and have burned many LPs onto CD. Before I retired I had a long commute (an hour to an hour and a half) and I never listen to the radio because I hate commercials.
When I first got the turntable I was like a kid with a new toy and before I stopped myself I had 235 CDs.
But, I have a portable boom box with a decent sound so if I'm tinkering in the garage or relaxing on the patio I have decent music to listen to.
The program that came with the turntable has a "clean-up" stage that eliminates most pops, crackles and surface noises.
