It's interesting how the movie experience for me has largely become a home "theater" experience for me.  I just got a copy of Fantastic Planet on DVD...
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

2001 is my favorite movie of all time, so getting around to watching the sequel was a no-brainer, even though I knew it wouldn't be as good because Kubrick wasn't the director.  Guess what?  It wasn't.  It didn't have the same magic as the previous film, and the special effects were very dated.  The film is more fast-paced and dialogue-driven, so it lacks that ethereal, mysterious and epic mood of the previous film.  This could also be blamed on the soundtrack, which has replaced classical music with some bad Tangerine Dream clone.  It's not a bad film by any means, as it had a lot to live up to, and any film seems sucky compared to 2001.  A fine Sci-fi film, just don't put your expectations up too high.  Three stars seems like a good rating.

Are you sure it wasn't Tangerine Dream? LOL   You cannot get more sucky than them...

No, I like Tangerine Dream.  But the synthesizer music in the background was pretty lame when compared to 2001's amazing soundtrack.

Cop Out:
It started out great, then went downhill after that. Still, it had it's funny moments, but nearing towards the end, it's like they gave up on making any jokes. 3/10
The Hangover:
Very fun watch. Lots of funny moments and keeps your attention throughout. An immature movie? Yes, maybe. But great, nonetheless. 9/10
I Love You, Man:
Now this was a great movie. It was very funny, constantly entertaining, and Sidney was just a dynamite character. Also, it contained large amounts of Rush. SmileIt's become one of my favourites. 10/10
The Final Destination:
Yes. THE Final Destination. Kind of like THE Fast and The Furious. That's right kids. Screw the numbers! The word "the" is all the rave nowadays! Anyways, onto the movie. It was action-packed, but after the first 3 movies, the idea is just so bland. It also contains the worst ending of any movie I've ever seen. No exaggeration. 2/10
Knowing:
Cheesy, boring, awful acting, just bad. It's just yet another end of the world movie. <sarcasm> Never seen one of those before! </sarcasm> It had a few interesting parts, but all and all it was awful. Also, just like the movie before this, an awful ending. 1/10

Inglourius Basterds.

I'm still not sure what to make of it.  I enjoyed it and certain parts made me giggle, mostly due to the fact I love black comedy.  A good film indeed.  There was also part of the soundtrack that was proggy and I am sure it features a Moog.  Anyone have ideas what it was?

10

The ultimate depraved sex-romp of 1979, 10 was Blake Edwards' departure from the slapstick of Peter Sellers and sociodrama of Breakfast at Tiffany's.  More revealing and autobiographical, it is also Dudley Moore's best moment in film, outdoing even his performance in Arthur (it also marked the arrival of Bo Derek as a sex symbol) and gave us a peek into the affected world of the L.A. rich and their midlife crises.   Equally funny and ridiculous, it is a better movie than remembered.  Two years later in '81, Edwards would follow-up with counterpart S.O.B., a searing portrayal of the film business and also worth catching.

I didn't notice that, where was it? (in the film).

Towards the end.  In the last 15 to 20 minutes, I think.

Grown Ups:
The all-star lineup got me to walk into this movie with very high expectations. And it did not disappoint. It was a very fun movie that was incredibly hilarious. It could have ended a bit better, but all and all it was a great movie and definitely matched my high expectations. 9/10

The River:
Apparently Martin Scorsese loves this movie. I have no idea why. It's boring, annoying, and while I guess you could say it's original because having no plot at the time was groundbreaking, it's still a sh*t movie. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters but of course the one I liked the most was the one who had to die near the end.

yesterday, i watched Schindler's List for the first time since it initially came out in the theatre
what can i say in a few words or sentences?
you get a real understanding for what the Jews really faced and went through-especially chilling is the character of the Kommmandant-having the power to kill whenever he wanted and truly enjoying the power that came with that-nothing is held back in this story, which i guess is the way it should be told

The Crucible (1996)

Brilliant acting, great story. Props to Winona Ryder for delving into true human nastiness and making me almost dislike the movie just because she portrays a horrible person so well, kinda like Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, and who is....also in this movie. Good solid performance from him until the final 10 minutes. Then he kicked it up to 11 and blew my face off with acting. Can't say there's much wrong with this film, but it doesn't feel like a masterpiece yet.

8/10

Resident Evil Degeneration is a movie made for the game fans, because of the critics about the main movie. It is like playing one of the games, the technology used for filming was great, there's a lot emotion in the faces, something very difficult to made. They used better technology than Final Fantasy movie, and the story it's about to of the main characters of RE2 game: Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy. They even used the same voice characters of the games. Great movie for fans, follow the original story and work great for the RE5 game. As a fan, I can give it a 10, but following the plot and performance and as a movie overall, it's a strong 7...

Pretty damn good. Loved the slow, suspenseful pacing, very unlike most horror films nowadays.

Really? it's not the typical erotic full with blood kind of horror film...? that would be nice...
