I would love to buy some Vinyl, but it doesn't seem cost effective for
me right now, so I'll have to stick to CD's...
But I honestly can't stand the fact that MP3's are in your computer all the time! Its ridiculous, it takes a whole lot of the intimacy out of listening and owning the music.

Two words: Resale value.
A few bucks spent on crappy mp3s equal money down the drain. A few bucks spent on a crappy CD can turn into money you can get back and then use to get more music.
I rue the day in which a non-tangible waste of cash will be the principal form of music.

Sure, you can't sell MP3s ... that's a major difference to vinyls or CDs. On the other hand MP3s cost less than new vinyls/CDs to begin with - and today you always have the opportunity to sample the music before you buy it.

Buy used, sell used. Play your cards right and its like getting paid to have to music.
That's impossible to do with digital downloads.

^ that may be the right strategy for people who sell about as many albums as they purchase ... I rarely sell anything, so obviously it would not work for me. Still, as much as I promote purchasing MP3s, of course there's nothing wrong with using other channels too, including cheap used CDs and vinyls.

Thats the same for me - I've never sold a CD... I prefer to buy and keep them.

I am an old LP buff and recently rediscovered good ole vinils. CD would never have the same feeling no matter how "better" the sound quality it may bring. MP3 is practical for storage of huge collections. So I vote for LP!

i doubt it, the metal film inside CD's biodegrade very quickly, i have vinyl lp's 50 years old that still play perfectly, and they should be around for another 500 years before they biodegrade, by then there will be no electricity or fossil fuel for domestic use, everything will be clockwork, including clockwork cars, record decks and clockwork computers - well we have clockwork radios already 
i'm just winding you up..

I think though that even in 50 years some will still have CDs in their collection ... the content will long have been copied to other forms of storage, but surely that won't mean that collectors will throw away their collection.  But at least as far as I'm concerned, I'll shortcut that process and - at least usually - settle for the MP3s.

Well, mp3s are lower quality than CD usually, so thats out. I'm going with LP. But only really because they always remaster the CD's poorly (I really hate when people "remaster" albums because it just always ends up being nothing but overly compressing everything and wrecking the tone)

MP3 for me. At high bitrates, they're virtually transparent and I hate swapping CDs every hour or so Also FLAC/APE.

About the price issue...
For the most part LPs are MUCH more cost effective than CDs or even MP3s. If you have a good record store nearby you can find amazing deals. I bought CttE and The Wall in pristine condition for a $1 each, and even KC's ItWoP for $0.01 (!!!). This, coupled with the fact that the quality is thousands of times higher, makes vinyl irrisistable for me...
