Thanks, George, got them both now!
Still Waiting to Hear From:
JD (same as Scott, [rushfan4] one entry) Icarium Crane (one entry, also) I will open voting in the morning (Sunday), unless I hear from these remaining three sooner. I will enter the two 1-entry folks then, if not heard from them. Edited by Snicolette - April 10 2021 at 15:17 |

Nanowar of Steel “Barbie MILF Princess..." (Cristi)
Lol, I shared this in the "guilty pleasures" poll. One's guilty pleasure is another's proud taste. |

isn't this the funny foolish quirky poll? It fits right in. It's a power metal parody, it parodies Rhapsody and it's got Fabio Lione guesting on vocals. I dislike Rhapsody, but I gotta give it to Fabio, he's got a sense of humor here.

^ Yup. I was just kidding.
It is a parody, but also musically impressive, IMO; which feels ironic. |

yeah, they are competent and having a lot of fun, there is a hilarious Blind Guardian parody, but I don't remember the name of the song. I'll look into it and post it later.

I will be opening up the poll to voting at Noon PDT, as there were a couple of questions on how the poll works, answered in the Interactive Poll Team topic, which is where they were posted (one was also posted on the previous page and answered there, as well, although it was covering two topics, so many have been missed).
Here are the rules I should have added at the start of this poll and again apologize for not so doing: People put up, usually, up to 3 videos that go along with the general theme chosen, although some go for more. Each person decides after some deliberation (and potentially discussion), which 1 of their choices will go up for final vote. Those are the ones you see up in the voting area at the top. You may vote for a "Top Three," up in there, but may wish to let us know who, what, why, contended for those spots as well....or not, depending on your inclination. Many of us don't vote for our own selection, but that is individual and not a requirement. Edited by Snicolette - April 11 2021 at 08:30 |

Ok, I've decided that I'd like Frank Zappa - Dancing Fool to be my choice for the poll, It wasn't an easy decision as I absolutely love Zeppelin's Fool in The Rain, but Dancing Fool always get me dancing no matter where I am or what I'm doing.

'Tis the striking of Noon PDT, folks. So I entered Crane's one submission and JD's choice. We've not heard from Icarium, but I am going to open the polls. We all probably need more listening time now to come to final decisions, so will enter it if we hear back from Icarium soon (unless the moderators have a better suggestion?).

Got not time this last week to listen to all the suggestion, so I guess I have missed some funny things... Listened to the nominations only and will go directly to my vote (no comments, this time). There were some fun lyrics and good music coming by, but these stood out for me: 1. Fjernsyn Fjernsyn - Nr. 1: Because it's Nr. 1, of course... No lyrics here, but it shows how music can be utterly funny - they're crazy... and very gifted musicians! Great choice! 2. Nanowar of Steel - Barbie MILF Princess of the Twilight: This is hilarious, indeed! 3. For my third voted I hesitated between the silly kitsch of Happatai with their Yatta song or the witty silliness of Deichkind... I'll go for Richtig gutes Zeug, because musically it is more interesting. Seriously?

My choices:
(according to semi-serious and variable criteria, from the beauty of the music to the hilarity of the video or text) PODIUM: 1) Joe Ely "Me & Billy the Kid" (TCat). After Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, John Hiatt and Tom Petty, Joe Ely is one of my fave American songwriter. His album "Letter to Laredo" is wonderful. 2) Happatai "Yatta" (Shadowyzard) Wonderful demential video and song 3) Deichkind, "Richtig gutes Zeug" (Lewian) Guily synth-pop pleasure. the video is a masterpiece ---- but I'm sorry for Cristi's song, that musically is better than these ones.... too much better to be voted! Honorable mentions: The songs posted by: - Crane - Snicolette - Suitkees - rushfan4 Edited by jamesbaldwin - April 12 2021 at 12:25 |

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Thanks to suitkees for the vote Here are my first reactions of the first songs: Nanowar of Steel “Barbie MILF Princess..." (Cristi) is heavy metal turned "up to 11" whith exaggerated used of falsetto screaming and double pedal. The lyrical humour doesn't appeal to me, but I can understand why some may find it funny. It's a bit sexist, isn't it? The visual use of Disney aesthetics is obviously ironic, but it's a tad too primitive for my taste. Dennis Leary "A**hole" (mathman0806). I have heard this already. It is held in a folkish atmosphere with acoustic guitar. Satirical obviously, referring to the role of the US in the world, but I think I would have liked it better if it were more deadpan. I think someone like Tom Lehrer was much better at political satire. John Prine "Dear Abby" (dr Wu23) is in the folk area with acoustic guitar and nasal singing. Musically it could have been an early Dylan song. It's much more laid back and understated, and as such it appeals much more to me. Like with the previous song, the humour is mostly about the lyrics rather than the music. I didn't get all the words. Todd Snider "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" (snicolette). More Dylan references here, this song clearly is paraphrasing "Talkin' New York" from Dylan's debut album. With its references to the worst clichés about grunge music, the song is actually very witty, and it should be a contender for my part. Giorgio Gaber "The Corrupt Man" (Lorenzo). Musically, this is in the bluesy area. The comical elements of the lyrics are mixed with a certain amount of sadness, and the song certainly has a lot of depth. There is irony en masse, but also societal criticism. Strong contender for my vote.

Some interestingly odd songs.....these struck a chord with me..(pun intended).
1.Todd Snider- "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" (snicolette)- Reminds me of both John Prine and Dr Hook... funny and on point and home grown music 2.Dennis Leary- "A**hole" (mathman0806)- I like Leary's old stand up and many of his acting roles...never heard this before...done well by him and the band 3.Cathy Berberian- “Ticket To Ride” (Tancos)- so strange it has to be on a list of surreal silly things...I only know who she is because of an old Steely Dan song called Your Gold Teeth where she is referenced ("even Cathy Berberian knows there's one roulade she can't sing...")...is this for real or was she trying to be funny?
