Hmmm....I liked all of these songs in their own little ways. I will have to give additional listens this weekend to try and choose three favorites.

I am also having a hard time deciding. I hardly ever go for a third listen of just the final selections, but find I will have to do that with this one.

Because choices must be made, here goes, after a third listen:
2. Us, Today “Greetings From The Master,” live version. They are fun to watch, and yes, it does have a different feel. I do like this version a bit better. Band-Maid “onset” They are very energetic and great players. If I were at the show, I’d have to keep my eyes closed because of all of the strobe work going on. Good, driving instrumental. 3. Even though I liked IZZ the best of these selections….Ronnie Montrose “Rocky Road” I do remember him and band, Montrose, but not this song. So what one would expect from him, a quality rock piece. The melody did stay with me. Honourable Mentions: Calibro 35 “Thrust Force” Moving right along, kind of
an almost Farfisa organ sound with a twist, catchy organ melody. Hey!
And then some cool sax! Very
enjoyable. French TV “The Kokonino Stomp” There are so many fun
pieces in this poll, so far. This one is
very Zappa-esque to my ear, hard to categorize.
I love the wackiness and then the more staid inter-parts that come up. A piece that demands you sit up and listen,
no background music here. Horn-heavy,
with lots of changes and some vocals (no words, of course Ashley MacIsaac “Devil in the Kitchen” Very different from the other three, a bit of a frantic jig (with a dancing demon). Very energetic and fun. Oh, the energy of youth! And wish I could have voted for Joe Walsh. AND this was the most difficult one for me, yet. I found something to enjoy of every entry, very wide variety and very tough choices. |

Sorry about that! I'll edit the post. I haven't heard of them before, should probably look into them.

I feel certain about my top two:
1. Salaryman - My Hands Are Always In Water 2. Calibro 35 - Thrust Force Then it felt like a 10-way tie. But for right now: 3. Peachy the Band - Cloud-Burst (See Ultra Seven in action broke the tie, and wanted to give a vote.) Honorable mentions: Tom Kelly - God & the Flatlanders, Ronnie Montrose - Rocky Road, and Alain Bashung - Climax 4. Edited by mathman0806 - October 24 2020 at 20:03 |

Like the rushfan, I've got to say there's not a single one that I don't like, I'd be happy to have all of these in my collection. Now it's easier if a major source of discontent I have with music is forbidden, namely annoying voices. Top 3: Us, Today - actually this is quite similar to some stuff by Salaryman. I like the strong drums and it has just the right balance between sophistication and straightness. And indeed the live version is much better. Tom Kelly - Nicky wrote that Tom likes to have string contrasts in his songs. Now here there is one, but it feels very organic - all put together very tastefully. Alain Bashung - I missed how good this is the first time around. Great atmosphere and development! Honorable mentions: Of course both the Fred Frith and the Cassiber are great, I love some avantgarde. But I have both of these albums and in order to make my voting job easier, I decided not to vote for them for this reason. The next two that were just behind the top 3 were Calibro35 and Basorelief.

Thank you for so many votes for Tom Kelly's music. He would be proud to be in this company.

This is a very nice listening trip through the playlist! Now, if we made a CD-series out of this, The Interactive Poll CD-Series, we could get very rich... (with a special commission for George for making these playlists available - thanks again!). But it is difficult to make a choice, so I will listen to it again, later... Now I go to the farm, but... "I'll be back."

Had some time to listen to the playlist again (and again) and it is difficult to make a choice. But, since it is Sunday, my votes go to Basorelief, Salaryman and Fred Frith. If it was Monday, they could have gone to Tom Kelly, Ronnie Montrose and Cassiber... On Tuesday... Oh well, I will keep the playlist. I really liked the studio version of Us, Today's Greeting from the Master, but upon several listens, I found the continuous distortion of both guitar and vibraphone on the live version fatiguing and lacking many of the subtleties of the studio version...

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.
