I like the exclusion of everything listed on PA as a general principle. One could make a one-off theme poll for them though. (I think there isn't that much listed in these categories anyway, compared with some others, is there?)
Spinning the thought on... if there isn't enough listed in Proto and Related for a theme poll, what about "Proto, Related, and what you think should be there but isn't"?

I would prefer to keep the rule of posting only songs not present in PA.

But sometimes we could choose a theme that includes proto prog songs, for example Songs of the Sixties, included those proto prog, or Songs prog related and what you think should be there bu it isn't.

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

tbh all non-prog rounds have been more fun and interesting than the recent prog round.

let's have a catchiest song you like round. I am curious what people will come up with. LOL

I guess today I'll give the prog poll my undivided attention.. but Raff was listening to those yesterday and I have to admit I was only listening with half an ear. I'm not if it is a 'cause or because kind of dope man. .but yeah..I'd tend to agree with both of you and surprised by the lack of interesting selections that made me want to fully engage and listen with both ears. Perhaps it just paled in comparison to the diversity we've sort of got spoiled upon at Lorenzo's BBQ.

it's not because the prog round was not diverse, it was, it was just that I had more fun in the non-prog rounds. Big smile

I was toying around with a "top 10 hits only" theme idea, just to piss Pedro off. Big smile But it could be fun

I wasn't thinking about top 10 hits, just catchy songs, whatever the genre, hopefully a diverse round, any genre can be catchy, from, pop, rock to metal, even jazz. So it can be interesting, entertaining.

I can absolutely dig the more fun vibe... for me it has been the diversity of the selections that made the fun.

So I want to confirm that I didn't break the rules by the US Kaleidoscope's inclusion, as it's been quite popular.  They are not in PA.  I think I may have brought them to attention, asking if they should be (a very long time ago), but they certainly weren't added, can't remember if they were denied or never given a final determination.

the only rule has been.. not to be found on PA's .. so if they aren't..  what rule is there to be broken.

As far as well known.. I have tried to stay away from those myself and have gravitated toward (and voted for) those which I didn't know but that was never a rule.. and never really implied they had to be unknown for what some may consider well known.. might be a surprise to some.. either not known.. or perhaps not fully appreciated or understood which is why though I would never vote for it.. I liked Doc's suggestion.

Perhaps some here really hadn't heard it and perhaps those who knew it but didn't understand what it was about might have gained a better appreciation of it than a bunch of scary looking shaggy ruffians just Joe-jamming away..

there really is wealth of themes to hit upon.. I"ve already decided on the next one I'd do.. which I'll whip out when or if others don't volunteer and we hit a slick spot and spin our collective wheels.

Back when I was still terrorizing Facebook before I stepped away for my own sanity.. I posed a question to my friends and followers and we have quite a discussion about it.

'popular songs we consider most perfect'  some really great suggestions to that..  might be a hard one to do though as a popular suggestion was one that is most certainly here on the Archives..  guess I wasn't the only one to Micky test and Micky approve the songs effects on the fairer sex in conjunction with a roaring fire and a bottle of wine..

I thought I had read the rules right.  I remember I had mailed you asking about individuals who may have been in PA in a group, but not as a solo artist (Annie Haslam comes to mind, but I'm pretty sure everyone here has heard her solo stuff, I have a couple of others in mind), and you'd responded with a similar answer as far as your first sentence here.

I also try to stay away from what I think would be widely known, I have always loved championing the underdog.  Smile

And yes, shaggy was quite the style back in those days.  LOL

I narrowed it down a bit so it's between Janko Nilovic, Era, Allman Brothers, Peace & Quiet and Phillip Glass.

It's way easier to be shaggy when you still have hair.  LOL

Ok, not a problem, I was just curious what people thought.  Maybe a good poll theme would be "Progressive songs by bands that aren't considered progressive" ?
