One thing I like about em though, is that they liked a lot of the same bands I did, and helped them get more exposure.
Of course, Sonic Youth was responsible for bringing Nirvana to a wider audience.
Nirvana has some undeniably classic songs too.

It's weird how quickly mainstream music took a turn as a result of Nirvana hitting #1 with "Teen Spirit". It happened to occur at precisely the point I transitioned from "college student" to "post-college student", a very drastic change in my life for sure. When I was in college, everyone played Bobby Brown and Tone-Loc at parties. When I went back for a weekend the year after I graduated, it was all about Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Guitar bands, what a great idea!
