I was a bit harsh. Tongue

I think I didn't like it, because I had heard of all the ideas presented a million times before, so there was really nothing new for me.

the ideas were minimally stimulating, but it's still nice to see a movie with a decent collection of ideas.  I really liked the rotoscoping effect though.... it made it more hallucinatory.... and it did add to the philosophical bent.... no matter how immature it may have been.

In The Realms of the Unreal--Interesting, although the execution was annoying at times. There needed to be more quotations and less Dakota Fanning and animations. I was surprised that they took Henry's supposed innocence at face value: he obviously didn't intend to hurt children, but from what I hear, a lot of pedophiles don't believe that they are hurting their victims, although I probably heard that on Law and Order so it might not be true. Wikipedia claims that one of the reasons he was institutionalized was for masturbation, so he clearly was not an asexual person, even though I certainly can't explain the girls having penises. In any case, I'm certain it was for the best that he wasn't able to adopt a child. Still worth seeing for an insight into this very strange man, and it's much easier than reading the book!

Shadows and Fog by Woody Allen:
I liked it a lot, it's probably my favorite of his 90's films.

Stardust Memories also by Woody Allen:
I loved this so much, it's his best, next to Annie Hall.

Hot Tub Time Machine
Had to see this based on its name alone, much like Snakes On A Plane, but unlike Snakes On A Plane this film exceeded expectations.  Do not let the name keep you from seeing this, you pretentious b*****ds, nobody is too good for a mindless laugh every now and then.  If I cared more I could go on explaining why this is a comedy worth seeing.  I'll just say that the writers of this film actually did sit down and try to make an original comedy, meaning it doesn't fit into the "Disaster Movie" or "Generic Romantic Comedy no. 3456575" category.

Time always wins.

The People vs. Larry Flynt

Woody Harrelson's acting talents carry this somewhat idealized life story of Hustler creator Flynt, his rise to success as a stripclub owner and then publisher, depraved relationships and eventual shooting outside of court.  Both sad and eye-opening, and a great vehicle for debate over freedom of expression.  One of those films where you sympathize with the most distasteful of characters, and find yourself rooting for this man's rights if not his magazines.

^ funny..  and completely idiotic.  I know most people hates those movies but Episode 2 was fine, and 3 is excellent.  And all the prequels were way better than Episode 6.

When that reviewer pulls the needle out of his arm, stops drooling on himself, takes off the wifebeater t-shirt, and actually leaves his mobile home, he can review a movie.  This is one of those guys who thinks that because the prequels were not what he expected - what he wanted - that they were bad.  Yeah, thanks but no thanks.

I think he has perfectly legitimate reasons for not liking the prequels, and besides, it's for the lolz anyway.

I'm pretty sure that all of his complaints are valid. What a shame he expected and wanted a movie with a plot that made sense...

^ you're pretty sure?  I assume you've seen all six episodes at least once.  If taken as one whole story, it makes as much sense as Lord of the Rings.

Totally agree. The story may be weaker and have a few more holes, but as a whole, it makes the same sense. Don't tell me it's ludicrous or something like that... (oh yes, I forgot, there ARE orcs and trees that walk in real life...) Wink

Constantine

Pleasantly surprised by this biblically-based mythos about sardonic seer of angels & demons John Constantine of the Hellblazer comix.  Elevated and thoughtful script enhanced by good visuals and primary color scheme, and terrific appearances by Tilda Swinton as androgynous Gabriel and Peter Stormare's Lucifer.  Keanu Reeves as Constantine is typically wooden but not too big a distraction from an otherwise imaginative and entertaining popcorn flick.

Totally agree. Very entertaining film. Reeves is wooden but I quite like his woodiness. He's likable. It was kind of bashed, but come on, none was expecting a serious metaphor about the soul, I'm sure. It's a very efficient comic adaptation.

Just saw American Graffiti, and I gotta say, I loved it.

The colors, the soundtrack, the stock characters, all of it seemed to work to build a movie greater than the sum of its parts. I really wasn't expecting too much out of this movie, but there was a certain magic about it, a certain nostalgia, that won me over. Also, I thought Richard Dreyfuss was great in it. Most of his characters are extremely likable.

I'll go ahead and give it 4.5/5 stars, how about that?
