Catcher, I was watching the game where the Giants defense held that team to 2 points. I know we look at Post season as a new year but it IS still the same Falcons team ya know. Matt Ryan, Julio, Roddy White, Gonz, Michael Turner. Those are some serious weapons and to be shutout on offense??? Sounds like a defensive effort to me.
You highlighted me saying the offense is no joke but cited 2 playoff games, don't work like that bro Can't negate the other 32 games! As for the not field goal attempt, I also saw them go on fourth down a few times, and fail, so they coulda went for points and chose not to. We also did have some 3rd down stops and clutch pressure, that shutout was all the Gmen and Eli picked the oopsy daises that gave em any points
Oh! Also it was almost 50 degrees and surprisingly not too windy, (and Ryan played in Boston College anyway) so I dont wanna hear "outside" because I doubt that had much to do with it.

Ohh I am totally with you on the win reasons.....Its why last week I called the NYG beating the Falcons. not only because they utterly fail at the post seasons but also the last few games they have not performed well....at all. I did believe the Giants were the better team and are. Turner has been hit and miss lately, their whole offense has been hit and miss. Although I expected them to score at least 14.......Those 4th down calls I am fine with, they didn't make it cause the D stopped them.
2 playoff games and some other clutch games they have not done well in. Of course the few players you named are very good....but collectively they had no game plan and no answer for Eli.

I mean yeah, people gotta give NY some credit and not pin it all on "lol there goes Atlanta again" that IS a decent offense with some potent weapons and they were shutout. No small feat! Also as a Giants fan that watched us get torched by the Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams and Redskins... seeing them shutout the Falcons FEELS like it was stopping the forces of hell itself I had to live through Eli so I am very patient with teams (I still am OK to give Chad Henne a chance even) but I give em another year. A full off season to develop the team and its young/new players. If the Falcons playoff woes continue next year then yeah...we have to seriously wonder about Ryan himself. I will say "Matty Ice" looked bad under pressure. One hit and he crumbled, and pressure is never fun but Eli stands up to it and even took off to run if needed! Ryan was indecisive for sure. While I've been quick to praise Eli and his heroics I'm far more glad the run game looked good. If they can keep that up it will be a MAJOR help. We did run well against the Packers...with a good d line and balanced drives, + Eli at his peak maybe this Packers win isn't so crazy. Still, I would not bet any money on it yet

That Broncos-Steelers game yesterday was a semi-classic.
I spent much of my life not so far from Denver, and that was invariably the regional game of the week. So that's who I watched, back in the days of Craig Morton and Floyd Little and Randy Gradishar and others I've now forgotten, prior to the Elway years. They often failed, sometimes spectacularly. So over the years I have always been glad to see them have some success, even when what then became my hometown team (the Seahawks) were still in the AFC West and Bosworth was all bark and no bite.
And yes I was happy to see Tebow have some success in a playoff game. And there was ol' Mr. Ed celebrating on the sidelines. We'll see how that works out this year, though at this point I do not put anything past them.
Regardless, it was about as good of a game as we got over the weekend and since the hometown boys are left watching, those Broncos are about as root-worthy as it gets for me, though I give them next to zero chance next week.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

^ Never say never! The Patriots did hammer them recently too if I recall. The Steelers game was a classic :-)

Well..Tebow is no Elway Guess more I think about him...I almost like him as a player because he's old school. Like 1940s LOL Running QBs that hardly pass the ball and none of this 2 yard sh*t, throwing the bomb! I can't get on the Tebow Train yet but in a couple of years, iron out the kinks and grow consistent and I'll gladly change my mind. Credit though, Pittsburgh said you will not run and run the option on us, and dared him to throw and...well he did! Phil Simms said before the game he didn't think their corners could go one on one with those receivers and damn, clearly he knew what he was saying. Gunna get beat handily by the Pats I am sure. Wont say 0% chance of winning but...like 1%

About Tebow and those manifestations after a touchdown when players tank god. I don't know about you but it gets on my nerves every time i see that. Religion is too often mix with sports. To me success in sports and players ability have nothing to do with a gift from god.

Yeah it irks me, I'd really like to see much less of it from him. Not just a sport thing but for me I really just...dont care to see it publicly. Annoys me and nothing against him...but to me it makes him seem dumb. Like he may be a smart guy IDK but has one word come out of his mouth not god or christ? He points to the sky or prays after he does anything, and he repeated verbatim what John Elway said about his game. So yeah to me makes him come across as a mindless buffoon, which is unfair I'm sure but it's all we ever see him do.
Kurt Warner made no secret about his faith and even said Tebow should maybe tone it down, like are you a QB or a pastor who throws a ball around? But it also has nothing to do with his play so I dont like to talk about it, I judge him on what he does on the field.

The joy of seeing someone else's hometown team lose can never equal the joy of seeing your hometown team win. |
Since I have no idea what it's like to see the Eagles win, I can not confirm or deny this hypothesis.

I disagree actually. The Phillies have made a lot of blunders with trades in recent years I think.

Teebow will be back to his enigmatic nature against the Patriots. I don't see him have the best against Brady unless the hand of god resurface from the deep water again...

Yeah, I would like to see Tebow actually comeback from more than a few points down. Few times he's been there and had to go pure pass mode things really went suck. Actually I don't wanna see him do that because I was already wrong on Cam, dont wanna be wrong on Tebow of all! :(

Saints (toss up for me)
Packers (not feeling all the medai hype of this as a serious matchup. looking at a blowout.)
Texans (I want it to happen, so it will )
Cheatriots (Not as convinced of this as most people. Thinking John Fox can scheme a way to keep this close.)

I too am surprised about how many people are picking the gmen. I guess its a bit worrying that people are jumping on the bandwagon so quickly, but so it goes I guess. Even still...I don't expect a blowout...more of a shootout, but I do think the Pack will pull it out in the end.

Yeah, especially here. Obviously everyone has forgotten when you expect the Giants to win they lose terribly.
Absolutely sure they can win against the Pack. Will they? ...I would not put any money on it. But hey, Gmen have no problem playing on the road, including Green Bay, and the defense doesn't need to shut em out. Not with the offense clicking. Hell they could get away with 28 points easily. The coverage still blows, its all that pass rush. I've been saying it, use 5 linemen and all 4 d ends if needed, just unleash the fury on Rodgers! The way this year has been, long as it's a hard close game I'll be ok with it.
What I want to see: Niners Giants
Pats Ravens
What I honestly expect: Niners (yeah I'm going with the upset. Defense, ball control, field position at home FTW) Packers (close game or blowout)
Pats (Sorry, if Brady goes up 10+ it's ovah, and seems unlikely that won't happen) Ravens

Same for me. Except I genuinely think the Texans to be better than the Ravens. I'd call it a blowout if the Texans were healthy.
