PLANET X "MoonBabies "
Review (Permanent link) by Toomio Posted 10:18:00 AM EST, 1/8/2006
Too purposive prog music for me. They are very skilled, but there´s not so many songs
which i'll remeber tomorrow. And guitar´s sound is something what i don't like. BUT
the drummer is fabulous!!! I´ve heard so much better pieces... Sorry, fans!
42! and a little weak... |

ORME, LE "Le Orme"
Review (Permanent link) by NELNOMEDELPROG Posted 12:56:55 PM EST, 1/9/2006 REALLY: 2,82
This is a compilation of the period pre-prog of Le Orme. I do not want to say that it was one of the much prog groups of the period, but if it did not be the prog been us you are they would not be passed to the story. Here and there some good ideas there is, but too little deepend. Reasonable music produced in a period of large musical changes. Other I do not hear myself about to say.
ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA* "Xanadu (Original Soundtrack)"
Review (Permanent link) by NELNOMEDELPROG Posted 12:41:10 PM EST, 1/9/2006 REALLY: 2,55
Best in the songs signature ELO, disastrous in the other (with a note of extreme demerit for "Dancin'" of Olivia Newton-John with The Tubes). It is not a true album of ELO and unfortunately hears itself. Erred, because the songs of the ELO are from absolute masterpiece. I cite: "I'm Alive", "Don't Walk Away" and "The Fall" (in merit order). However it is not a disk to throw.
OK...I don't get it. |

Fandango's considering those ones SBF. Weather report dealt with Salmacis, looks like only the middle row of the keyboard was working. |

My own feeling on these types of reviews is that I'd like to give these guys as much of a benefit of the doubt as I possibly can...I know that some sentences don't make much sense, but I don't want to delete all their reviews... ...there is no doubt they put a lot of hard work into trying to write English for our benefit, so if I can edit them to save them, I will.... some of the very poor efforts might have to go, though I do that with great reluctance... |

NELNOMEDELPROG seems to be a good guy, handy and participative... perhaps I may help. ELO: Better for the songs signed by ELO, a disaster for the other songs (with an extreme demerit note for 'Dancin' with Olivia Newton-John and The Tubes). This is not a true ELO album and unfortunately one may not take it in good consideration. Wrong, because ELO songs are absolute masterpieces. I mention 'I'm alive', 'Don't walk away' and 'The Fall', in order of importance. So, it is not an album to throw into the dustbin. LE ORME: I also didn't get it! Edited by Atkingani |

I love those reviews that look like they got fed through an online translator. It's kind of like a whole new form of literature, like postmodern poetry was.
Maybe you could make a mirror site and call it Depository Banana Prog of the Recording Picnic and post them there. |

Here's one I've been meaning to send out here...somehow, I doubt that losing TWO loved ones is a mid-life crisis. RUSH Vapor Trails — What in the world has happened to these guys? Is this the same band that gave us Moving Pictures and Hemispheres?!! What an awful bunch of noise. They have completely lost touch of what they are by trying to sound like the teenage grunge bands on MTV. I guess that's their way to handle their mid-life crisis. Oh well, we'll have to wait until after they pass that, maybe then they will come out with something meaningful musically and lyrically.
While I'm at it....
RUSH Vapor Trails Review (Permanent link) by MusicLover @ 6:57:54 PM EST, 2/6/2004 — Sorry, loved the title track, but muddy production and a batch of uninspired songs. I suppose the long break and the personal tragedies would'nt have helped the process here. If Rush continue, then perhaps a return to their roots is needed?
Does the mentioning of Neal's losses REALLY need to mentioned? AT ALL?????? Edited by sbrushfan |

DREAM THEATER "Awake"
Review (Permanent link) by Petruccius Maximus Posted 4:56:18 PM EST, 1/10/2006 Although this may not be actually reviewing the album, just merely make a statement to what Tony R said. How can a person critisize a band for using "30 notes", to get the message across, delivering a message in one chord is "algorithm", repatative and boring. Petrucci is demonstrating his immense prowess and his solos and licks add a dynamic twist to the band, unlike lots of other prog I listen to. He doesn't deliver the message in one chord just because it will work, he does it in 30 fast notes because he can.
Anyway, this is a great album, one of their best. Pick this one up, definitely a classic, its only $8.99 CAD. I wouldn't consider it a masterpeice, because the drumming and bass are missing something in songs such as The Mirror and Lie (Lie contains probably some of Petruccis greatest solos), still good songs nevertheless. |

The first one is just a fanboy's rant, second is a short general statement about the band. |

GENESIS "Abacab"
Review (Permanent link) by Peter pumpkin eater! Posted 9:27:03 PM EST, 1/10/2006 Oh you bunch of small minded cretins!!!!!!!!!! the whole nature of Progressive rock is to change and push boundaries. Are you seriously trying to tell me that this band should have gone on spinning out material that they were playing ten years previous and still be playing it in the early eighties....times change, and if the musicians are top notch then so do they!! Genesis had done the mellotron, twelve string guitars thing to death. Yes...it was brilliant...... and if you want to hear it, then listen to the early albums for god's sake!!!! Abacab was a brilliant and original effort. Utterly ridiculous to suggest that this band should have stayed the same as it did way back in the early seventies just to please old sticks in the mud...they would have never survived had they not the capabillity to change and embrace and experiment with new areas. GET A LIFE (that's what Tony, Mike, Phil and Steve would tell you to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your reviews are pathetic and inaccurate. Five Stars
The words in bold are the only ones that describe the lp. That=6 words and thus needs to be removed as the rest of them are there to insult other reviewers. Edited by gdub411 |
