Has anybody else noticed that strange yellow thing that's been hovering in the sky for the last couple of days?

Well that'll please Chris - Magma lyrics are somewhat akin to Vogon poetry

Mind you - you know winter's on its way out when you can have a ciggie outside the office wearing just a t-shirt*

Never mind the sun, did anyone see the moon last night? Never seen it so big. I'm just off out for a quick howl.

97% full, waning gibbous to be exact.

Hmmm - thought I'd fetch a few fresh supplies - teabags, milk, sugar, hobnobs, some gentlemen's special interest literature* - spring appears to be springing, so it's high time to sit around wondering if anybody's going to get around to doing any weeding...

Excellent - now we can relax in a gentleman's way*

Speaking of spring cleaning (well, Steve was...), finally hit the loft over the weekend & started on the mammoth task of getting rid of 19 years' worth of accumulated rubbish (including a bloody heavy & ancient lawnmower I've no recollection of putting up there).

Main problem was over the years, any large cardboard box (TVs, PCs, various white goods) got shoved into the loft, slowly encroaching on the hatchway, so starting off, it was like climbing into a submarine's conning tower... a couple of hours later though + 1 car full of flattened cardboard & bags of polystyrene packaging.... I can now stand in my loft & plan the major clearout, p;rior to it being re-insulated, boarded out & prepared..,

....for the next 19 years' worth of rubbish

I've got a loft containing 15 years worth of toys and associated junk to clear out, unfortunately I've just come out of hospital after having my gall bladder removed so I can't do much at the moment. I'll be chilling out for the next couple of weeks.

Ouch - I hope your convalescence is comfortable enough for you to catch up on your reading/listening/daytime TV, but not so comfortable as to make household chores or DIY feasible (if you see what I mean).

ITV4 is very good for old episodes of Minder and The Sweeney, which always make me feel better.

Seconded - hope your recovery (I can't spell convalescence) goes well; if that were me, I'd be thinking DVD frenzy

All the best mate

Good luck with the loft Jim - did mine a few years ago to fit insulation,  floor panels and renew lagging, 26 dustbin bags full of of dust and accumulated rubbish over 60 years,  mask and paper jump suit essential Dead

Looking great , very warm upstairs during the winter now but empty boxes and Christmas decorations starting to accumulate...  Ermm

I was going to do mine last summer, but I opened the hatch & there was an ominous buzzing, making me think WASP NEST!!!!!

I closed the hatch & waited...

I found an empty wasp nest in the attic when we went to fetch the xmas decorations down - it's an amazing structure - all made from woody wasp spit. Neat.
What?

There's no doubt they're amazing structures, but do they have to be full of wasps?
