I like all of those bands a lot Mike 2.0, though Dream Theater gets iffy for me sometimes. Though that song isn't bad.

I don't think Ive heard Gentle Giant yet.

Ive heard the new Flower Kings album from Mike, mostly the epic and one other song. I liked the epic. I heard another epic of theirs, forgot which. I like it, they sound like a more adventurous Yes.

Mike's cousin, if you're looking for music recommendations (on a music forum? c'mon!), based on what you've posted, I'd say you should definitely check out Porcupine Tree if you haven't already.

Big Big Train, Marillion, and The Tangent are other great bands to look into.

They have about 4 (Porcupine Tree). If epics are your thing - PLEASE - look into The Tangent.

Big Big Train has an album of 3 epics, and each album they released after that one, The Difference Machine, has a masterful epic ending it.

The Tangent's material is mostly epics, and Marillion don't really have epics. Atleast not the albums i would recommend.

I know the Flower Kings have a lot of epics, which ones are the best?

Does Gentle Giant have epics? Which are the best?

Are there any Yes epics as good as Close to the Edge or Gates of Delerium?

How about The Tangent?

Does Dream Theater have more epics besides Octavarium? That song is amazing!

Gentle Giant doesn't really do epics, but they pack an awful lot of music into a relatively short amount of time.

Other favorite Yes epics:  The Revealing Science of God, Awaken, Ritual.  The 2 you mentioned are also my 2 favorites, though these three are close behind.

The Tangent:  the opening track on "A Place in the Queue" is excellent.  the name escapes me for the moment.

Try Nocturnal Conspiracy by Haken. It will make you poo your pants and it will make you feel like Dream Theater stopped learning how to write real songs. Haken is fkkkkkkking amazing.

also its 13 minutes long

See, I'm coming from classic rock and modern rock which is crap to me now. Once I heard Dream theater and The Mars Volta, I knew modern rock was awful. Mike showed me Yes and now I almost think non progressive from the 70s is crap.

the longst gentle giant song is 9:15, the shortest is between 1:12, so no epic songs,

average lenght of songs is between 5 anf 6 mins, and by no means the everyday prog band

their will never be any bands out there who will ever touch the essence of Gentle Giant, the music which Gentle Giant made between 1970 and 76 is music which is in it's own style of prog, al on its own, nothing is alike that, really IMO
