Hello, Chris. How are you?

Hacked off at life right now, how are you?

Why is that?

I'm pretty good. School again tomorrow after nearly an entire week off, but I don't mind it. In fact, it gives me something to look forward to. Only two more weeks anyway. Smile

Eh, just a running streak of bad luck and misfortune lately. Seems like nothing is going my way. Yeah school starts up again for me tomorrow as well, it snowed here while I was on vacation, I guess. Lots of ice and whatnot laying around the streets now.

I know what you mean there. Well, good luck with it!

The temperature actually wasn't too bad around here; there's no way it would have snowed. We're due for some snow tomorrow though, perhaps.

Man, half the genre teams have been pretty inactive lately:(
Prog Metal has had a real kick along with the recent promotions in the last 5 weeks, so we have been hard at work lately, but wow, Krautrock hasn't moved for ages.

I think it's relative to the fact that Prog-Metal is more of a modern genre than krautrock is. Don't get me wrong, there are still probably great krautrock bands out there now makign new music, but it isn't as popular as it once was with new acts. metal on the other hand, well, one in every 3 bands tries to be a metal band, so you guys have to stay busyWink

Yes but not 1/3 metal bands are prog metal bands though.

That is true.

I'm not sure if that theory has any merit or not. It may have some, but nonetheless there has been a trend of discontinuing activity on many fronts on PA lately.

Well bceause PA is just a shell of it's former self now, aside from this thread, the math rock thread, and the collab lounge, the rest of the forum isn't even worth the time of day any more.

A lot of astray collabs I presume Disapprove
We're always kind of active in the RPI team, but the flow of new bands are understandably slower than for PM.

Yeah, not much happening over at ZART, what with Blowie being inconsistent in how often he shows up to PA and not always having the time for genre team stuff.
James seems to have taken a non announced temporary break too, so he wont be doing much collab stuff either I imagine.

Olav on the other hand, is a champion.
That man is truly worthy of his Special Collab position, no doubt.
Despite being on Neo-Prog, he has even taken the time to help other genres, and he has added a few bands to PA for prog metal that I can't add (me being only 4 stars and having no adding powers).

He needs many clappies for his awesome work, much kudos to that manBig smile

I'm just sad to see the attitude of "PA's dying" kinda widespread. I think it's quite the opposite, and the surge of new promotions is a proof that it's more a shift of generations going on, which is, after all, only natural.

And there are so many newbies around it sometimes baffle me, especially since I really feel kinda new myself.

It's easy to feel that way, but I think that attitude is the reason that it is that way.

If we had more people contributing everywhere in the forums, then it wouldn't be happening. I'm willing to help make things turn around. Big smile

Yeah I was in Florida and it was a little overcast but still around 71 when I boarded the plane and I landed in Hartford to the tune of 29 and freezing rain. nice.

I've considered volunteering my services on this team, but I'm not as much of an expert as either of those two are.

Haha, nice change there. I'd rather live in Hartford than Florida though, personally. I much prefer winter to summer.

Absolutely. And I think there should be even more promotions. People feel rewarded that way, and given the power to truly contribute, they do. The more people with Collab status we have here, the more possibilities the teams have to truly work as teams, acknowledging that some people prefer writing reviews, while some just love the evaluation process. Then there's some who like writing bios, handling additions, find new bands etc. etc.

Well, a lot of the older members in the last year have been dropping off a bit I suppose.
We lost MikeEnregalia  (as a collab anyway) recently, which sucked, because he really does knows his sh*t and he's a great guy, but I think he's happier being a normal member of PA now I suppose.
If James doesn't come back, I wont be surprised either, he doesn't seem that greatly interested in PA anymore.

Yeah, that's understandable.
Well, I feel right at home on the PMT anyway.
I honestly don't listen to much of what constitutes "classic prog" anymore, and still love regular metal bands, and having an understanding and listening to regular metal as well as what constitutes prog metal is essentially for understanding the genre IMO.

I'm more of a metal fan that knows what prog metal is and is a fan, rather than a guy that knows his prog perhapsTongue
That said, I did genuinely enjoy some of the stuff James and Blowie told me about, like Univers Zero and Present.

I'm disappointed at Mike's abdication (for the same reasons as you) and I wouldn't be surprised if James didn't come back either.

And those definitely aren't the only two cases. I wonder why.
