...and nobody in here at all over the weekend

Is it maybe Neil's "hogweed rash" putting people off - is there maybe a fear the rash in question may have other less botanical origins & may be catching?

I think we should be told...

Ok I'm back now, you can stop nominating me for jobs and make your own Censored tea.
I have returned from a succesful Scout camp in a very hot Germany. I say succesful, only 2 of the Scouts had to pay visits to German A&E departments and only 1 of those had to leave a body part behind (i.e. an appendix).
One thing I've learned - never underestimate the stupidity of boys. One particular chap spent about 50% of his camp on punishment duty (including spending the last night asleep in a field having been banished from his tent). His finest hour was setting fire to another Scout's hair, then denying it was him. Unfortunately he was 1 of only 2 Scouts who could have reached the afore-mentioned hair (he was sitting behind him on the coach) and had a lighter on him. Doh - cue a quick toilet cleaning stint.
I'm now suffering from ferry-lag, that 1 hour difference is a killer, although it could have been the staying up till 1am drinking every night.
Have I missed anything?

Not really, apart from the fact Lee's been using your woggle in a most inappropriate way

I always thought boy-scouts were clean living, studious, Enid Blyton reading types, not the kind of oik to go round setting fire to peoples' hair... and what does a boy scout have to do to warrant being banished from his tent (that occasionally happens to me at Cropredy, but it's usually down to the combination of chilli sausages & Hook Norton ale)?

Well it wasn't a Garten-style wind related offence. That would probably have smelt quite pleasant compared to the smell of 22 pairs of worn-for-7-days-without-being-changed socks that hit me when I attempted to enter their tent in the morning.
No, they were just chucking things around and stopping everyone else getting to sleep.

Little Red Riding Hood should have had an inkling that all was not well as she approached Grandma's cottage. In fact, things looked pretty Grimm.

don't call us, we'll call you...Embarrassed

and Alan, isn't there something in the new Scouting Child Protection Policy, which precludes you from leaving them to look at the stars in a muddy field at 3am?

did you carry out a Risk Assessment first?  Was this particular 'activity' covered in your initial Site Survey??Stern%20Smile

Hello all, just popped in to see what was happening.  Is the site still under attack from this hacking stuff?  This is the first morning for ages that I've been able to open the GR before I've had to go out.  Blisters are fading now leaving quite colourful scars.
Jim, didn't need an exact time for your leaving the camp site.  Just a rough idea as I'd quite like the walk.
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

That's nothing, Alan - When we first started going to Cropredy many years ago, there was a group of around 15 of us who used to share a huge ex army tent (large enough in fact that on rainy years we used to put up smaller tents inside it & then carry them out to be pegged down)... imagine if you will, the atmosphere inside a large canvas tent, in summer, containing 15 people, all of whom being aficionados of real ale & spicy food, first thing in the morning...

Neil - we'd usually be setting off around 10:30-ish, but Mr Stumble's boat will be there as well, so if you could boot him into action as well, we'll call you to arrange a meeting...

I'm surprised the thing didn't float off the ground like the Hindenburg

Let's just say the first cigarettes of the morning were generally lit outside the tent...

HA! that's STILL nothing! Have you EVER smelt a tour bus after a dozen band/crew members have lived on it for a month??? Wacko

sweaty hot venues, odd food combos, beer, and little washing facilities, plus the 'snug' bunks............
Pig

Thinking of that............... why oh why am I going to join the tour for the LAST week?????? best pack a surgical mask and some smelling salts!

I agree. Given that 1 small Scout managed to stink a whole coach out by removing his socks, the thought of an entire road crew for a month...Dead
