BTW, "Lada" means box/chest/trunk in my language, that fits the car perfectly LOL I'm curious what it means in Russian.

They've certainly come a long way from the days when they were a standing joke - e.g.:

Why does a Lada have a heated rear screen?

To keep your hands warm when you're pushing it.

etc

It could be worse - you could be driving a Toyota.

At 70mph, then you take your foot off the accelerator and you're still doing 70mph.

oops.

...and then the brakes don't work...Shocked

The car in front is a Toyota - and if it was the car behind, you'd be in real trouble!

My van had an altercation with a rather large badger last night.  Ouch  The van won but is possibly mortally wounded.  I'm taking it in tomorrow for a survey but it's a real mess under the bonnet.  Fans smashed, brackets broken, radiator and oil cooler bent in half (but amazingly not leaking) and much engine bay bodywork damage (although all hidden from the outside by the plastic bumper).
I'm having to face the prospect that the repairs may be far more than it's worth.Unhappy
Could be shanks' pony for me.

^ the average badger is about the same size as your average elephant, of course the elephant is further away.
What?

^ well, there are only two types of joke - those that were in Father Ted, and those that were not. Wink

However, it is a consequence of modern living that many of us don't really know how big, or small, most animals are (I've lived in the country most of my life and only ever seen dead badgers), a badger can weigh up to 40kg, though the average is closer to 10kg (about the same as a cocker spaniel). I think Wind In The Willows has done a lot to mentally shrink our perception of badger size.
What?

It depends how fast the aforementioned van and badger were going at the time.

Unless it was one of the rarely seen Giant Badgers.

Doh. Simon has a great ability to invite the wrong people. Sorry if you guys can't make it but we'll have a drink on your behalf (assuming it's still going ahead).

Amused to read that Apple's Steve Wozniak has reported a problem with the cruise control on a the Prius - somewhat ironic that he can be taken on a wild ride by bad software http://edition.cnn.com/2010/US/02/11/prius.cruise.control/?hpt=T1 LOL
What?

It was a very big one and I was doing about 70mph so quite an impact.  Van has been salvaged by much dealing of local garage with local scrap yard  Still cost £240 'though
