LOLLOLLOL

I want to post something so bad, but I don't want to be the jerk that does. LOL

I posted, but I was just being a smarta*s LOL
It is funny, but just remember that us collabs are suppose to behave a certain way within the forums and not behave like idiots to newbies.  And senior members who have any interest in becoming collabs should probably pay heed as well.

I know. I just quoted someone else in the thread, and only indirectly to the topic.

Wow. That's some thunderstorm going right now, especially since we lost power for a few seconds.

I don't mean to be rude, but to me, that Porcupine Tree thread is no different than making a thread that's been done a hundred times- if you spend more than 10 minutes just looking around the site, you will see that Porcupine Tree is a very well known band here.  Get to know about a site just a little bit before you start posting in it, I say.

It's like going into a video game forum and saying, "Gee everyone- have you heard of Halo? It's great!"

I'm trying to imagine someone doing it.

"Yeah, those little Grunts sure are pretty funny." LOL

I don't disagree.  It still doesn't give us the right to be a****les to a newbie; especially as collaborators.

I mean seriously, at this point how often is a new thread original.
Edit:  And since I haven't played at any games since the days of Pacman, I could very well be the poor chap who "discovers" Halo and goes on line to share it with others.  (I've heard of Halo but have never seen or played it).

I actually reported the thread. I don't like to see people ridiculed in public like that - it would certainly not make me happy if it happened to me. Though I may find the whole situation funny, I dislike cruelty in any form.

I see original threads all the time (and strive to make my own).

But that's not my point. Discovering Halo and being excited about it (and even telling others in a forum you discovered it) is one thing, but starting a new thread in a video game forum to tell others they should check out Halo is going to garner you no small amount of ridicule.

But you're right that it doesn't mean we need to be rude.

He joined in July 2008, if he hasn't bothered to look at the pages for Deadwing and FOABP or do a single search for PT since then, that is his fault and I don't think he counts as a newbie anymore.

And I am reasonably sure he wasn't being entirely serious anyway: those links to his band at the bottom makes me think it was a self-promotion post that he was attempting to mask with a post, but since he only put a second of thought into it it ended up silly.

I'd say that 16 posts does make him a newbie.  I would suspect that he probably hasn't been here since he originally posted in July 2008, but I ain't going to waste my time to prove otherwise.  Trust me when I say that people making useless threads without using the search function pisses me off more than anyone else here on the forums.  It still doesn't make it right to behave like a****les.

I'd personally include the "Return To Forever = Dream Theater" thread into this day's collection of weird topics.

Good news!!!  I tried posting a happy dance smiley but for some reason it wouldn't except it like it has in the past.

Raff, Have you heard Astra's The Weirding?  I know moshkito won't appreciate this, but they really remind me of Paranoid-era Black Sabbath.  It is probably just me since I tend to make weird connections, but I think that Sabbath fans might really like this one.
