I don't hate it, but it is not really my kind of Floyd.

'Cause it's Waters. Smile

I love Animals. And we all know that was a Waters album. TFC is just too much of the same thing, depressing tale of daddy issues and alienation. It also annoys me how PF are no more than session musicians.

That's why I think of it as a Water's album.

So do I, and that is why I don't like it. Amused to Death is much better anyway.

I actually don't hate Rush.  The albums I've heard aren't that bad.  There's a lot of other bands I dislike more than them.
You don't think that we mostly get along?  Is that an overstatement or an understatement?

I thought we got on fully. Big smile

That must mean there's something you don't like about me... (or maybe it's just the taste in music).

I have no issues with you at all.

Amused to Death is probably my favorite solo album. (I can't think of any others at the moment anyway)

James, you should give a listen to Final Cut.
I really love that album.
I only like two Rush' albums... Farewell and Hemisphere.

Fair enough.  I think that it is just the taste of music and a little that gets lost in the translation from English English to American English.  Wink  And although I am not as gung-ho about RIO/Avant as you guys are, I have picked up a few decent additions from that genre, even if it is from bands that you think really aren't avant like Alamaailman Vasarat. LOL

I like from Caress of Steel to Moving Pictures. I haven't heard enough of their music after that to make a decision about it.

I love Alamaailman Vasarat.  My ring tone on my mobile is an AV track and it has been that way for about 3 or 4 years now.

AV get more avant with every album, actually.  Good stuff.

You'll also like Afenginn.

'tis A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres I've heard.

They're not bad albums at all and I don't hate Geddy's voice at all.  I just don't find them that exciting.  They're great musicians though.

That is pretty much the essential stuff on a prog rock site.  Of course I love the before and after as well, sometimes moreso, but that comes from being a fanboy.

Yep.  I picked up an Afenginn album off emusic on your recommendation.  It was pretty good, although it did remind me of the dancing Russians.

Ah well, I am off for the night.  Catch you guys on the flipside.

I've heard the album Kaarmelautakunta, and found it great.
Afenginn I don't know. On my list now. Wink

When I first started listening to Rush, Geddy's voice was a little annoying. Now it's one of the reasons I listen to them.

Afenginn are Danish though (with a Finnish guy as the main composer, I believe).

But aye, they make danceable music.  If you have the CDs you'll notice that their debut includes a booklet with instructions on how to dance to their music.

I wrote bios for Roger Rodier, Wondeur Brass, Justine, Les Poules, Medeski, Martin & Wood and Arrigo Barnabé without having listened to one of their albums completely....
I listened a lot of pieces from most of their albums, though.

Didn't you also write one for Zut En Fou Rouge?
