Hard cheese,Jim. It is Evelyn's birthday tomorrow but we have been roped in to attend a 'do' for one of her ex work collegues. But,on Sunday, we are going to Tamannas' multi-award winning Indian Restaurant which is only about a 10 minute walk from our house. It has won restaurant of the year in 'Curry Pages' many times. Huzzah! Hope that work isn't too much of a bind tomorrow,Jim. Edited by Man Erg - September 19 2008 at 11:52 |

Hopefully should only be about 3/4 hours work (system testing...), for which I'm getting a full day in lieu.
In the evening we're seeing a couple of friends at our local... after one or 2 "B&T Extra Stout" or "Dark Island" I'll probably spend a full day in loo. |

The Seven Percent Solution is all about Holmes addiction and him seeking help from Freud ..also Young Sherlock Holmes has an excellent cast and story, though it portrays Watson as younger than Holmes I also loved the books as a kid, I think Doyle must've been an early writing influence Edited by Atavachron - September 19 2008 at 16:11 |

Good luck with it all Rach. Looking forward to the gig now.
Woo hoo, I've spent the afternoon putting some more shelves up in the newly-painted garage. Also managed to clear some of the crap out of the shed and I can now see the floor again. It's been full of junk since we started the extension last year. Slowly getting the house back to normal. Time to relax with a cold beer now! |

I'm working all weekend too; if you count being paid for riding around on and occasionally driving and firing City of Truro on the Severn Valley railway as work.

I did a stint today as part of the London Open House project, at St Anne's Church in Soho. I went round the Foreign Office beforehand, which was stunning, and I'll be using my volunteers priority badge to jump a couple of queues tomorrow. Such are the rewards of promoting Soho's architectural heritage - it's work, Jim, but not as we know it.

I thought the NRM had City of Truro, when did you guys steal it? I remember it being in Swindon works and the Railway Musuem before it went up to Yorkshire... I think we should have it back! |

Had a typically dull though not uneventful weekend -
Saturday was woken up at 3am by a "domestic dispute" outside, called the cops, they came after everyone had gone...
bought a copy of the new Metallica album - it's good, why is everybody trashing it...?
Had a bottle of the ol' "Waggle Dance" and a bloody good laugh at the tw*ts on the "X factor"
Sunday - painted the front door, spent the afternoon watching Porcupine Tree DVD "Arriving Somewhere..." on my new surround set-up.

heads!
ers! The words p1ssup and brewery spring to mind... Our wonderful IT department spent the whole of last week setting up worldwide synchronised systems testing for disaster recovery trials on Saturday, but forgot one minor detail - telling our building's owners we required the building to be open on Saturday. Luckily I got the call on Friday evening - I would not have been a happy bunny had I turned up on Sarturday to find the offices locked up. So - no additional day in lieu for me... bs! But on a better note, Vicky and I spent a good few hours in the sun on Saturday and Sunday educating the garden & disposing of shed-junk. |

Well? How did it go? Easy birth or a few labour pains along the way? |

Aren't the Labour pains due today with Alistair Darling's speech? |

because iconoclasticism gives people the misplaced illusion of credibility, Steve...
I have to be honest, it sounds like the first album of theirs in 20 years, that I'd actually enjoy listening to.. must pick a copy up, along with a bit more Handel...

It's surprising how much you can get done in just a couple of hours a day over a weekend; all we need to do now is wait for an evening when there's no washing to be seen so we can burn the rubbish (our recycling wheelie bin's considerably fuller than it's ever been).
This is what they want - a good fire
Face it - everyone's been waiting for them to fall flat on their faces again since the horridness that was 'St Anger' & just don't want to be proved wrong; from the little I've heard, sounds like a bloody strong album (Hetfield's voice has improved no end, now he's removed his head from up his arse ) |
