I have adjusted Bondage Fruit III to "Studio Album". Someone moved it to "Live". It is a studio album with a single live track from their debut album.

^ oops! i think that might've been me relying on false info that it was a live album! thx for catching that and changing it back! I(function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8a7ebd98793996c6',t:'MTcyMTc2OTkwMS4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();< style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: medium none; visibility: ;" width="1" height="1">

^well, see, now I am intrigued. As it turns out it had been years since I checked the liner notes and there is some ambiguity. While not my favorite BF album, the disc is maybe my favorite prog collectors piece; signed and purchased directly from the band at the Palace of Fine Arts during IPMF in 1999.
So listening to the album there is a pretty clear difference in the sound quality between tracks 1-5 and track 6, "Kinzoku No Taija" which is the only one specified as "live" and the only one that a crowd can for sure be heard. However, checking the liner notes I found the only recording location listed as "Shinjuku Pit Inn", which if they are using the English "Inn" sounds to me like a live venue. The questions are: does this only refer to the live track 6? Are the first 5 tracks recorded at Earth Studio where the mixing took place? Like I said, everything about the albums recording quality and the fact a single track is specified as live in the track list tells me this is a studio album, but I started today more sure about it than I am now. (Shameless name drop trigger alert below) I will ask Kido Natsuki for clarification since we are Facebook friends. |

OK. 25 years later I learnt something. Natsuki has verified that the first 5 tracks are also recorded live at Shinjuku Pit Inn. He didn't mention what accounted for the sound difference in the 6th track recording or why it is the only one specified "live". I suppose since it was the only song that appears on a previous album they wanted Kinzuko No Taiji specified when it showed up in other track listings, playlists, etc. I suppose another clue was that on the compilation "Selected", the studio version of Kinzoku No Taiji is on it, while the album version of R้cit is on it as well, specified as a live track.
I will change it back. Edited by Tapfret - July 24 2024 at 22:12 |

Still haven't heard that one myself Bondage Fruit II is my fave so far (function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8a894f08ff216895',t:'MTcyMTg4MDcxNS4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();< style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: medium none; visibility: ;" width="1" height="1">

I'm denied editing privileges for this particular compilation, but a compilation it is, and it's currently listed as an album. I'm actually adding those two LPs right now, so if someone could make the change, I'd appreciate it.

I think the band name should be changed to Gorizont (Горизонт), not only to avoid confusion with the Swedish band Horizont but also because every standard Russian romanization methos renders the Ge (Г) as G. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Russian https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ge_(Cyrillic)

^ Yes, it's pronounced like GORIZONT, but changing the name on PA would make it even more confusing.
CD reissues read HORIZONT: "Summer in Town" "The Portrait of a Boy". Additionally, it's HORIZONT in all reviews on PA. |

Yes, but the CD reissues were released long after the band had disbanded. And in addition to that, the record company Boheme Music responsible for the reissues was trying to market Gorizont as more of a western audience friendly formation, which is why they changed the name to Horizont, replaced the Russian Cyrillic text on the cover with an English surrogate and included a booklet written mostly in English. Boheme Music is a Russian Federation based private record company, not affiliated with the Soviet Melodiya label.
The Russian portion of the Booklet still refers to the band as Gorizont. I'd suggest changing the name to Gorizont (Horizont). Have both. Problem solved! Same for the albums: Summer In Town (Letnij Gorod) The Portrait of a Boy (Portret Malčika) Edited by Hrychu - July 27 2024 at 19:58 |

Is there any particular reason we should avoid including the original Russian name? What's the problem with listing it as Gorizont (Horizont)?

горизо́нтis pronounced optionally as an English H or an English G depending where you live in Russia therefore HORIZONT is perfectly acceptible the letter г also can sound like an English Y as in YOU Examples его́ - he (pronounced yeevoh) Likewise it is pronounced like a Y with genitive endings of nouns Both could be explained in the bio but considering the CD releases feature the word HORIZONT that's what i would think needs to remain as the main band name |

That is true. Г is pronounced as a В in some "special" words like "его" (pronounced "ево"). These are exceptions. Gorky/Nizhny Novgorod, where Gorizont was founded is situated in the 'Nizhegorodsk Oblast', on the European region of Russia Federation, not super far away from the 'Moscow Oblast'. In Gorky, Г is pronounced G.

^ the band is pretty much known as HORIZONT outside of Russia or Cyrillic alphabetically based languages. I think both versions in the biography would be sufficient but i guess see what others here say. It's not a huge deal to me and i actually studied Russian for years in college. It's a great band BTW. The best thing to emerge from Soviet Russia for sure :) |

Artur Berkut's vocals from that era sound very similar to Jon Anderson in terms of timbre to my ears. Impressive range and phrasing. Edited by Hrychu - July 27 2024 at 22:43 |

Good idea, done. P.S. I wonder why Boheme Music choose the sensless name HORIZONT instead of correct translation HORIZON (like it was printed on the backcover of the band's first LP).
