NOBODY can replace LABrie....

But if he dies, then hire Fabio Leone of Rhapsody...

Don't ever hire earth's worst singer: ray alder from Fates Warning

Bottom line: No. Labrie is fine right where he is.

Charlie should have stayed. Labrie ruins a lot. Oh well, there are enough other good bands (like Fates Warning (and NOT "Rhapsody" LOL)).

Let us accept it. We all love LaBrie!! Dream Theater is good as it is! Perhaps better with the return of Moore and still with Rudess, but their vocal has no replacement.

if anything were to happen where LaBrie was not in the band anymore, then DT should be an instrumental band, just like they intended before LaBrie joined the band

i could see it now. "the new Dream Theater album... Dream Theater - Liquid Tension Experiment III

except not lol

What a terrible idea!!!

James LaBrie is a cornerstone of Dream Theater, and he's the only vocalist they have ever had who has fit the mold.  Does anyone remember Charlie Dominici, he used to sing for them?

James LaBrie was the first vocalist Dream Theater found who's style, ability, and attitude fit right with the band.  LaBrie is an amazing singer that is willing to put is own personal agenda aside to support the band.  Does anyone here really think Jorn Lande is going to sit around off stage for minutes at a time to let the other members of a band show their abilities?  The same goes for Gildenlow, Bach, amd Tate.

Russell Allen?  Russell Allen?  That guy that sings for Symphony X?  You have got to be kidding me.  All of Prog Metal's vocalist would have to decline the position before he would join Dream Theater.  Russell Allen hasn't put in a good performance since the Twilight in Olympus album, and he won't be doing any more any time soon.  He's a flash in the pan has been.

Let's get back to James LaBrie.  The man was fantastic on Images and Words and Awake.  He then got food poisoning harming his vocal abilities.  Rather than throw in the towel on his career, he changed his style in a way that still fit the band.  I don't think many vocalists are capable of doing such a thing.  Jonas Renske did so with Katatonia, but that's a very different situation.

The only possible vocalist that I believe can fill the shoes of James LaBrie from the current Progressive Metal scene is Mike Baker, most simply just do not have the ability or even the demeanor to do so.

James is fine where is.
The weaknesses of the last 2 DT albums  are hardly his fault.

Labrie stays.  Dream Theater is a lot more than Metal.  I don't even like calling them metal.  There to good for that and Labrie adds to that.

They are not weak, but they are not SDOIT or Awake, and from DT a relatively old fan expects always something Earth shattering.
 Octavarium is  too aMUSEing.Wink

James LaBrie is my favourite vocalist. I would not dream of taking him off of DT.

Errrr… why replace him? IMHO DT's best work is all instrumental. viz State of Consciousness et al

Imagine 'walk beside you' with Vicent Cavanagh from anathema in vocals. It would trasform from a cheese song to an excelent track.
