You have a strange way of showing your liking for ELP then ..or do you just indulge in baiting ELP fans as a sport?
|
Everything is fair game.We are told that their is much humour in ELP's work, and at times they make me laugh out loud! But the fans tend to be a mirthless bunch.
|
Generalisation as usual. Why? Can't we show a bit of passion for our favourite group? Is that hard to take? I guess it is.Oh well never mind. The world will keep on turning.
|
Mirthless = lacking mirth Richard ! You have just proved my point! Smile !

I would agree with Reed as well. I like ELP. I own 4 of their cds....man...for some reason their self titled 1st lp is REALLY hard to find and I always have other interests when ordering online...more rare bands...I tend to not like their silly tunes unless it is an instrumental and some of their tunes are taken SO seriously by the band it is humourous. Not including you Richardh, i would say ELP fans tend to be overzealous.
|
But I do take ELP pretty seriously.I just happen to like a lot of other prog rock music as well. Why are King Crimson,Yes,Genesis fans allowed to take their music seriously but ELP fans not? What is the problem with this? Passion and loyalty ARE good things believe it or not and ELP fans have this in abundance. The constant sniping at ELP I find strange.Still trying to get to the bottom of it but not really succeeding obviously.Pompous? yes of course! Pretentious? Yes I agree.Even the band admitted it themselves. And it's quite obvious they had a sense of humour.''Seven Virgins and a mule'' indeed! So what is the problem??

No, he'd rather take that out on KE9 and me...
Personally I think most ELP fans have a great sense of humor... geez, we must on this board anyway... or we'd be prog terrorists by now!

Just aimed at myself! I don't mind the ''banter'' just wish that 'pro ELP' threads could be allowed to develop without people feeling threatened that they may take over the whole forum or something. The question asked in the title is ''What is your favourite ELP album?'' not ''which ELP album(s) would you like to chuck in the rubbish bin''

ELP Fans are like Al-quaeda - You could almost imagine an ELP Fanatics Cell preparing to suicide bomb a Triumvirat Concert in the 70's -but being ELP fans they got captured on the way in because they were openly stabbing their organs........................

Hi All!
I'm new here and delighted to find that I am not the very last ELP fan left on this planet.. Hmm, best album? Tough choice - for me it's got to be Trilogy, although it was close between that and Tarkus. Later albums are more patchy, I think.

You wanna start looking at the patchiness of Genesis recording before you quote ELP material patchiness.Stinks springs to mind.
I love eary Genesis but the sound destroys them..

Tarkus is their best songs so I'll vote for that. Amazing.
