Anybody know this sophomore release by Harmonia? At first I didn't think too much of it, as I was mostly into the larval electronic feel of the debut. Must admit that I've taken quite a shine to it lately. Some great Krautrock tunes in here, as well as their unique brand of two-stroke electronic music. Here's the whole album on youtube, if anybody's interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVphe18ZlWY

Yeah I always think of carrots too, when I pull this album out.

Reminds me more of carrot juice, which isn't quite as appetizing as carrots. Or one of those insidious carrot-mango concoctions. I've seen pus that color too. And yet, it yields promise of the good music within, which I plan to check out soonly.

One new band strongly inspired by Krautrock is K-X-P, whom I submitted to the site a while ago. Their music shows a clear influence from Kraftwerk and Neu!, but there's also inspiration from elsewhere most notably Joy Division and Suicide. Adds up to a wonderfully stylish dystopian future atmosphere.

Just by chance, after discussing Harmonia above, I happened to find a Harmonia CD in a used bin. I recognize the names (Rother, Roedelius, Moebius, and Brian Eno) but still don't know much about the work of this group yet.
The CD I got is called "Harmonia 76" and it appears to be a recent release of unreleased recordings, supposedly the first collaborations with Eno. How does this one rate to you guys, if you've heard it?

Steve, Harmonia 76 is closer to an ambient album than to a real kraut album. But the music is fantastic, better and more varied in my opinion than the next Eno's ambient works.

Will look out for Harmonia too, the lineup makes it look like as unjustly forgotten a supergroup as Captain Beyond or The Cosmic Jokers.

This band isn't on PA, and isn't even German (they're from New Zealand), but I think they may find a captive audience in this thread. Discovered them about a week ago and I've been hooked. Noise band that has a heavy Krautrock feel, especially the wilder moments of Faust or Ash Ra Tempel. I also hear a lot of AMM - most of their material is pretty abstract and improv-based.
Live clip from New Zealand TV: And this is probably a more typical studio piece, more abstract and less song-based than the clip above: |

Wouldn't surprise me if quite a few bands in that direction had taken a few cues from ART, the first side of their S/T is some pretty abrasive and heavy stuff for its age. Will look into this.

This one's even better - one of two side-long tracks from their brand new 2013 album, which I think is my favorite album I've heard from them so far. this is the album that reminds me most of Ash Ra Tempel's debut. Side one is chaotic, side two is more reflective. This is the reflective one right here:

I saw you posting here the other day, but was visiting my folks - far away from my computer, so I was eager to get back and listen to this stuff on my stereo. I hate having to listen to new music over my phone(my ear-buds don't work with my phone for some reason).
Anyway, colour this Dane mightily intrigued

great to see some the dead c appreciation around these parts. the whole nz underground scene was a big influence on my tastes. i was lucky that a handful of independent stores in Australia had a penchant for stocking this kind of stuff.
HolyMoly what albums do you have so far? |
