Minamo is really good. Not the electroacoustic group that Last.fm is focused on, the one with Carla Kihlstedt and Satoko Fujii.

Good to hear. I plan on getting Kuroi Kawa eventually.

Hey Luke thanks for the Ulver rec last night, I checked out some songs on YouTube, and I think I should be able to acommodate some room in my itunes for them.

Wink

That's probably true.

Well, as the ball drops in Times Square, so shall my pants.  Approve

Granted, I've only heard the first half of the first disc, but it's still great. It's like 20th century classical plus free improvisation. Now I want more of Satoko Fujii. She recorded a piano duet improvisation album with Paul Bley! And several albums with Tatsuya Yoshida! Not that I like Ruins (yet), but it's still cool. How are Carla's other projects? I never got around to them, really.

No problem. Listening to Themes From Wlliam Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell right now.

@ Henry:  I haven't checked out any of Carla's other stuff, but I have all of Satoko Fujii Quartet's albums. (which feature Tatsuya on drums)

Ah, I didn't know you were a Satuko fan. I'm starting to really like the idea of duo albums: it's enough instrumentation that it's not a boring solo w**k, but it also allows each person to play much more freely.

Yea, I agree. Never was much a fan of solo stuff.

Although I'm still going to buy Anthony Braxton's For Alto, Peter Evans' Nature/Culture, and Okkyung Lee's I Saw the Ghost of an Unkown Soul, but I still stand by that as a general statement. ;-)

YES, Okkyung is working on a followup for Tzadik.

Still need some Okkyung Lee...and a lot of other stuff as well. Dead

Gonna have a little more restraint this upcoming year though. I bought WAY too many albums in 2009.

She's also recording an album with Phil Minton, who is apparently Mike Patton, but born in 1940
