Well, it's not my favorite Radiohead album, but I definitely see its charm, with its electronics and repetitive beats, hence why I think it has some relation with Cosmogramma by Flying Lotus, as well as with Thom Yorke's The Eraser.
Interesting stuff, not their best for me, but still solidly good with memorable ideas. ('Morning Mr. Magpie', 'Lotus Flower', 'Seperator') Also, I really don't see how Coldplay is more creative than Radiohead, neither Muse. (no comment on U2 since I barely know them, and I think that they're out of context here, they're far earlier band)

Btw, great Monk album you're listening to there!

it's not my favorite Radiohead album either (far form it) but what I love about them is that they reinvent themselves on every album and come up with something unique every time. I think that's the essence of being progressive. Muse is a fine pop band and so is Coldplay (to a lesser extent). I dislike U2, but admittedly they were influential on many bands of that period including early Radiohead albums (The Bends is better than anything by U2 if you ask me). It ended with Kid A though, when they went into their own previously uncharted territory.Tongue

Monk+Trane = masterlinessCool

Therefore, Paradise Lost must be progressive...

U2's first album is one of the finest post-punk albums. And what about their sublime blend of melodic pop and Americana in 'unforgettable fire', later they turned almost entirely to americana on Joshua tree, pusjing further their collaboration with Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno (listen to Daniel Lanois' album 'Acadie', an excellent album of folk-americana, with bassist and drummer of U2, the atmosphere is close to Joshua's one)

It's not so much the doing something different with each record it's the great blend of ideas they create ranging from jazz to krautrock to electronic and alternative, I don't think any other band has really been as experimental (and they've gotten more experimental with each record) as Radiohead has in terms of contemporary music.

OK Computer (I mentioned this in the Shred Room)

Astrud Gilberto (I mentioned her in the Eclectic Team Thread)

Me (I was thinking about me a while ago).

I run this thread with my mind.

Progressive =/= prog rock. What Tanner said above is what qualifies them (Radiohead) as prog rock.

Whatever. I plain don't like it.

Last record for a year from what the artist says, very sad but I guess the project released a ton of good stuff. I think I'll put them in my blog.
