One door closes another opens. good evening welcome after a couple of weeks. I'm not a fan of DVirglio's voice, and I would go as far as to say: as a vocalist he makes a good drummer |

The last two tunes are distinctly blues based, so stick around |

Solid Bond (apart from being cheap) appears to take some of the best tunes from the whole period of GBO - hence two McLaughlin tracks (Ginger Baker - the hard man of the band apparently, fired him after only a few month in '64 or '65) and remember this album was originally released in 1970. Liner notes are poor however. GB's Holy Magick is bad - under ther influence of Alistair Crowley's writings at that time. The two for one Organisation/Sound of 65 is an interesting mix but will remind of a lot of British R'n'B bands of the period, e.g. Paul Jones period Manfred Mann. Lots of covers of tunes here sounding more English than black American but aiming at the Mod market - as The Who and Small Faces were then. Apparently this contains first vocal recording by Jack Bruce (who seems to play a lot of double bass rather than electric at this time). Besides Solid Bond has Bond's best version of Walking In The Park - which you'll discover Colosseum did little to change the arrangement for their version; whilst there is an earlier verson by Bond on the twoforone mentioned. That's right - Manazanera may have produced a Splitz Endz album, so reciprocation. However, you'll also find Godley Creme collaborating too - sometimes on the same album. I have Finn Bros CD single wih a bonus track recorded by Australian TV (with Manzanera guesting on guitar) |

It is quite surprising who appears on Manzanera's albums - especially those recorded in the 70's |
