This is a studio album, I have no idea why you changed it to Live? Check the review on the front page by nutulescug

^ It's a live-in-studio album. See forum post here.
So is it LIVE or STUDIO? Hard to tell. Also, I believe all tracks on this release were released on previous studio albums. But I may be wrong. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure about the right place for this entry. Edit: Wikipedia says it's a live album. And nutulescug mentions "live" twice within his review, before concluding with "THIS IS NOT A LIVE ALBUM".

^ Wikipedia's page about types of albums says: "Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing or multi-tracking are termed "live", even when done in a studio. However, the common understanding of a "live album" is one that was recorded at a concert with a public audience, even when the recording is overdubbed or multi-tracked.
That's really helpful in settling the issue...Not! lol! All the tracks were indeed previously released, so there's no new material here to really justify calling it a new studio album, but the live recording of the album took place over two days, so it seems it also wasn't just a straight through performance of the whole set recorded in a single take in the same way as it would be at a true live concert. So that doesn't help much either... Edit: The question was asked by infocat in April 2013 here, and ex-admin Snow Dog answered 'studio' and changed whatever album they were discussing at the time back to 'studio'. Another previous example here too, where a 'live in studio' album was moved from live to studio by The Bearded Bard. Eugene commented on the issue that time as well, saying that when making studio albums bands usually record some instruments and vocals separately, make overdubs and other studio wizardry, while live performance is a live performance regardless of the presence or absence of an audience. Another one here, where Eugene commented: "live in studio is anyway studio album". I've no doubt the matter has been discussed many more times too over the years, and it's an issue which seems to have no definite answer.

It's been a subject of debate since the advent of recording methinks. I wouldn't honestly trust Wikpedia on this topic. Especially, when the line between a studio and a live album can be unclear at times and is often blurred. The Flower Kings' Meet the Flower Kings was recorded live in a theater prepared to function more or less like a studio, with a limited studio sitcom-like audience, tons of studio overdubs and multiple takes. However, the band markets it as a live album. The problem becomes apparent when the band is ambiguous about whether it's a live or a studio album or doesn't really care. |

A great example of 'Live in the studio' is Colloseum II's Electric Savage, done in front of a tiny audience in a studio just after a long tour. The energy it captured is unique. |

Proggnosis have it catalogued as a live album for what it's worth, but I'm listening to it now, and I must say its a highly polished performance indeed - sounding especially so since there is no audible audience interaction in between the songs. They certainly made full use of the array of equipment that was available to them at Abbey Road, and it sounds more like a reworking of some of their existing studio-recorded material than a true live album to me. I'd certainly file it as a studio album based on how it actually sounds.
Edit: A good many of the studio albums on this site are actually 'live in studio' - especially the earlier ones from the last century, where the songs making up many of the albums would have been recorded by a full band playing them live in the studio rather than spliced together by an engineer from separately recorded individual contributions by the band members. The only difference with this Mostly Autumn album is that it was recorded by the band in a relatively short space of time (2 days) - with probably only a few takes needed at most - rather than being recorded over a number of days or weeks, and requiring several takes to get everything right. Because Mostly Autumn have referred to Studio 2 as alive in studio album themselves, I would place it under live.
http://mostlyautumnrecords.com/mostlyautumnrecords/3/index3.html
While it is a kind of studio album, at the same time I would defer to them that they think of it as kind of live album made in the studio and so have it in the Live section. If the consensus of sites later, or just the band's opinion, is to have it as studio, can revisit at some later date. |

Missing Ink: https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=12573.
This band has been added today after I suggested them a couple of days ago here. I am grateful for such a speedy evaluation by the team, but would also be grateful if somebody could remove the line below the biography that says: "Bio by yam yam and Diego Sgarlato". That isn't the biography that I originally provided, and it doesn't contain any of the detailed additional information about the band history that Diego Sgarlato so kindly provided when I contacted them via Facebook. This brief bio is adequate for the purposes of the site, but it's not one that I want my name to be associated with. Both Diego and myself put a fair amount of time into preparing a comprehensive biography for Missing Ink, and to be honest I am not looking forward to sharing the PA link to his band with him after so much of the bio he helped me with has been omitted from the page. Please make this heavily edited biography that has been included on the page anonymous, thanks. The page for the album needs tidying up a bit too - there is an unusual amount of white space between the Line-up / Musicians heading and the list of musicians itself. I'm pretty sure the release date for the album is wrong as well - I had read in various places that it was released by MaRaCash records on 29th September 2023, and on Bandcamp the date is given as 3rd October. I haven't come across 23rd September as the release date anywhere though.

^ Thanks, David, both done.
Would you like me to contact the Heavy Team in order to replace the bio with the one you initially provided?

^ No, Eugene, that won't be necessary. I suppose they have omitted most of the detail I provided about the band for a reason (though don't ask me what the reason is lol!). I don't mind biographies that I have provided being edited by the evaluation teams, but I don't think they should still include my name at the bottom of them after they've done so.
So, thanks for removing the line that credited myself and Diego Sgarlato for the shortened biography, and fixing the issues with the album. As long as Missing Ink now have their page on PA (and will have also had some exposure due to site visitors viewing the original suggestion), then I expect they will be satisfied with what has been written on the page. At least it does accurately sum up the current situation with the band.
