All 3 of Gong's RGI albums are excellent. You is definitely the best. Thumbs Up

I got all 3 Big smile

Oily Way is my favorite song, haven't listened to You or Flying Teapot too much.

Listen to You more. That's one of my favorite albums ever.

Oily Way is fantastic. Clap

Ok I guess I"ll do that now. I think I've listened to War a bit too many times in a row.

You can't listen to War too much. Big smile

But go ahead and listen to You. It's amazing. Clap

That's great!  I really need more Henry Cow. I might have to find money to get the boxset.

Plants dying from demonic vocals.

I revived them with some Epignosis. Wink

LOL

That'll do it.

I wonder if that'll revive the orchid my grandma gave me. I was asked what "that stick in the pot" was...

Okie, so...

Ex Anima - at least two times better than In Anima, super cello contributions, fine intelligent experiments (slipping, inevitably, into freaky spooky noodling), console keyboards still there (guess you don't have money for a Korg hahaha) and it seems you took a trip to China to learn of their specific percussion rituals. And I think it's a concept album, depicting the loss of Boris in the forest of natural sounds.

Overall, I liked it!

Now, genre-wise, I'd say Eclectic can wash its hands, because this Ex enhances the experimental, electronic/cosmic, slightly avant-garde-istic, indie post-rock side of your music overall. Genre-wise, you're still in danger of not fitting the niche of a particular PA genre. It seems you're unique - orrr, not necesarrily connected to progressive rock. Wink

This is only my 2nd listen.  My first impression was that the first few songs are OK, but it kind of goes downhill from there.  We'll see if that impression changes with this listen.  I also downloaded IPOL and Western Culture from eMusic so you will see those getting first listens in the next week or so.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. Hug

Hopefully the genre discussion can get back going and we can figure something out. Wacko

At this point, I just want it to be in a category that makes some sense. LOL

Is that the game where the first level was flying the yellow ship over water?

Yeah, I never made it past the first level...

None do, quite frankly.

Seriously now, what inspired you to bang so many drums and tin cans in this one? I was very intrigued. LOL

All of the Henry Cow albums took me 5-8 listens for me to really start enjoying them, and that was when I had a more deep musical background in avant, so that's entirely understandable and expected. LOL

Hope you enjoy it!

I don't remember the levels.

I lost about five console games in my life. This one, Hook and Bucky O'Hare among.

That still leaves about 30 other games in my collection.

I played Bomber King (one of my favorites) every day of summer vacation.

...oh, when I was 11.

I wish I had a thing to record with. Cause I have some wicked basslines Ermm

I was actually fiddling around today and came up with something quite cool, to my ears at least.

Actually that was piano I was thinking of not bass (the fiddling bit). Going from tension to melody to tension, all while sounding completely cool to me Tongue

The concept is more of a rigid story that entwines itself with the vague overview of In (both stories are parallel with each other, actually), and it also heavily involves itself with two things:
1. Religion
2. Individual v. collective

So I wanted to expand sonically and every note that I ever play on each album has a strict purpose to it. I wanted to get a more organic drum/percussion sound, and I'm going to expand on that on one song for Album 3 as well.

Write down your lines. Then record them as soon as you get the chance. Just get a cheap microphone and download Audacity for free on your computer; that's how I started.
