^^^^ Without diigging deep as I understand, we have to "rollback" all changes made with THE VIEW INSIDE albums and restore info according to David's post: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=131079 (including the band's website). Then, after restoring initial info, the only change for the debut album would be:
Right? I would also add a note on the band's page that "bio compiled by David (yam yam) from different sources" (or something like this). P.S. I can't understand the reasons of changes made recently. Edited by NotAProghead - August 29 2023 at 17:26 |

^ I think Mayer was only trying to help by pointing out that the band were known as Briand Boursin Rohr when they released their debut album, but it doesn't seem that he was aware that the version of album they originally released as a CD under that name included 'Tumble Down' & 'Faerie Lights' as separate tracks rather than combined together as it was in the later digital release of the album as The View Inside (the version currently shown on our PA page for the album).
I certainly agree with the solution above, and upon reflection would perhaps also expand the note slightly to say something like: "The tracklisting above, with Tumble Down/Faerie Lights combined as track 2, is taken from the digital version of the album which is available on all the major streaming platforms. The initial CD version which was released as Briand Boursin Rohr had Tumble Down & Faerie Lights included as separate tracks". I'm not really worried about being credited for compiling the bio. I quite enjoy putting those together when I have a few spare moments lol!

^ Thanks, I think all pages are correct now. Can you double-check please?
David, I wasn't aware of this thread before, so all I got was Cristi's entries and Mayer corrections/comments, so it was hard to know what to do. Also, the forum was particularly slow yesterday, it was driving me mad and made the job even harder! Sorry if I made something wrong.

^ Yes Julien, everything looks good to me now. Thanks for re-editing things based on the previous discussion here.
Mayer was only doing his job as discography auditor when he made his comments, and was perfectly correct to point out that the band were known only by the combined surnames of the three guys who created it when they released their debut album. Later developments after the guys had chosen a more imaginative band name made the original one less significant than it might otherwise have been though, and the apparent re-release of the debut album digitally under their new name, with tracks 2 & 3 now combined, certainly contributed to this. I think it is made sufficiently clear both in the biography, and now also on our page for the debut album, that the guys originally released the album on CD when they were known only by their combined surnames. No harm done at all by this. You weren't to know about my submission thread for these guys - it's quite a few weeks old now, and only popped back onto the first page of the suggestions forum after Cristi had added the band a couple of days ago. The forum was indeed an absolute nightmare the night before last when I was writing my earlier comments. It was taking two to three minutes at least for each page to load, and was driving me nuts too. It's been like this a few times just lately, and I've noticed an abnormally high number of guests on line when this has been happening - more than 1200 on the morning of 24th August, and 570 or so even now, though the forum is running quite smoothly at the moment.
Thanks again for re-editing The View Inside's PA entry. |

^^^ Thanks, guys, for sorting things out. In my opinion everithing's all right now. Only a note to this:
I think it would be better to credit David for at least two reasons: 1. We have the admins' request to ask original writer in case of any changes in bios. Thus crediting could be helpful if one day someone decides to update the band's bio. 2. Genre Teams members, especially those who are quite long on the site, know (or at least have the idea), so to speak, writing abilities of some PA members. Credits are like a warning sign, kind of "oh, it's written by yam yam, he's always very accurate, lest to stay damned for all time I'd better beware of making changes without knowing his opinion".

So, if someone wants to add the same line that has been included in several other biographies that I have prepared "Biography compiled by David (yam yam) from various sources.", I am quite happy for this to happen. As far as getting my permission to update a biography that I've written, I'm not too concerned about that. I'm well into my senior years now, and am not going to live forever lol! As long as the name of the person who makes the update is included in the credits as well (so I can blame them if they mess it up ), then updating a bio I've written is fine by me.

Updated bio for Daniel Cross.
DANIEL CROSS is a multi-instrumentalist from the United States that made his first appearance in the prog scene in 2023 with the release of his debut EP titled A Descent into the Unknown. This EP consists of only two tracks, one being over thirty minutes in length. Additionally, DANIEL CROSS is listed as the only performer on the entire album, making this a truly solo album. The album is also fully instrumental, with keyboards being almost exclusively the lead instrument. Though being instrumental, the album tells the story of a crew navigating the unpredictable seas, encountering a diverse range of challenging situations. In the same year, DANIEL CROSS unveiled his inaugural album, "Tales from the Forgotten Realm," featuring four tracks ranging between three and eleven minutes in length. While not strictly a concept album, this record subtly weaves its tracks around medieval imagery. The transformation from his debut EP to this first full-length offering is distinctly evident in the album's stylistic nuances. While it maintains its core of keyboard and mellotron-dominated compositions, "Tales from the Forgotten Realm" embraces a darker undertone, marking a noticeable departure toward a less sanguine musical direction. DANIEL CROSS' music will best appeal to fans of instrumental symphonic prog, especially those who have a strong preference for keyboard-driven compositions. I just saw that my suggestion for the original bands name that was accepted by Julien was changed to the original after David brought up all kind of reasons, well here is my take on it! Briand Boursin Rohr in 2019 came up with an idea and a single which then became an album in 2020 with a CD that was called "The View Inside" on the CD cover you can clearly see 12 songs not 11 and the name of the band was very clear "Briand Boursin Rohr" they even appear on a seperate page on "Discogs" than the later band "The View Inside" that have their own page! let's say that this band would have been added in 2020 to PA it would clearly be "Briand Boursin Rohr" since nobody here has a crystal ball and can see the future that in 2023 they'll have an album and the band's name will be then changed to "The View Inside" the list of the songs on the original CD should be 12 songs and NOT 11 songs as it shows now which is taken from Bandcamp much later in time, I'm sorry that you guys had a very long debate about it but the outcome is 100% wrong! it should be on top of the page The View Inside / ex Briand Boursin Rohr and on the 2nd album the title should be The View Inside: Strange Destinations IMHO! David and many others in different arguments bring up Discogs so why now with all the photos of the front and back of the 1st album on Discogs we wasting time and debating the obvious and Discogs is not the final outcome? David's argument is based on 2023 Bandcamp my argument is based on a CD (Discogs) from 2020 it's NOT "the chicken or the egg" argument - E&O Team: Mayer and David, please see my answer below.
