Smile I have been listening to Tom Waits since I was 18. He has done some great albums and like any interesting muscian The first album Closing Time is quite a leap to Bone Machine which was another change of style

I've heard the name of course... many times.. what really drew my interest was an article on him in CR magazine last year.  They recommended albums.. but pffff.. that is the same magazine that is always singing the virtues of frickin GnR hahha.  What do they do they know.  What album is a good one to start with with him Matthew?

I'd say Bone Machine and Mule Variations both later albums and both are great.Smile
But if you want to know about any other albums fire away. Thye last release which was a triple cd called orphans is mainly Outtakes etc but I wished they had mixed the songs instead of putting one whole disc of Ballads, rockers and another disc of assorted jobs I would have prefered if they had mixed the lot up because  ballad after ballad can get a bit boring which is one of the reasons I'd say I don,t play that one much but now that I am saying this ( contradiction comihg up)Wink I will put one of the discs on for my next selection after Small change

I'll check those two out first.. and we'll go from there... always open to new avenues of discovery hahha.

thanks Matthew... I'll see if I can dial those albums up on some of the music providers I subscribe to...
