Another small haul.
Roger Waters-- Is this the life we really want? (24bit FLAC and CD version) Echo & The Bunnymen-- Porcupine DIO-- Live at the Hammersmith Apollo 1993 ( blu ray audio 24/96k) * Oh and Dave (Guldbamsen) hope you are loving those headphones. Nice price you got on those HE 400i's. I should tell you that Planar Magnetic headphone are not very efficient to drive and they are quite resistive, so a decent amp or dedicated headphone amp would really benefit those CANS you bought. Above all though. Enjoy the music. :) |

Yeah I know and to think Hifiman actually made them specifically to be used without an amp... Oh well when you look at the specs they should do fine with an iPod but I guess the 36 ohms are volatile. Sound horrendous.
Anyway they're outstanding on both my old NAD amp (with designated phono output) and my new (old) amp+dac Aune X1. And yes I am very much enjoying the music! The Hifimans in particular have made me drool all over my carpet. Next best thing to a live gig imo. Feels like being positioned directly between the musicians in a studio/live setting. Now I just need to get a replacement cable and some velvet pads. Cable because the old one sucks big time and is on the verge of deteriorating altogether - the pads because I've heard great things about the sound of the hp's through em...but evwn moreso because the old pleather ones are hot like a bull's back cheeks. Oh and they're not the i's but the original 400 that only come in blue. Hope you're doing good Nick. |

Hey my friend. I'm luckily still doing great.:) Although I know a lot of us have been having some CAPACHA blues crap with PA's security clearance timing. I hope it has got a lot better for you. I'm finally posting like a dream, but I know it's still not so great for a few still depending on their browser settings. :( Anyway I'm really glad you and I didn't give up here, but man I tell you I was close! Lol. So yeah. Those headphones are a nice intro to planet HIFI Dave. That Aune X1 will drive those 400's no problem. Stick with that set up for a bit, but overtime you'll get the upgrade idis and cable swamps along with ear pads are just the mere beginning. Lol. I know you and I love our tunes, so by discovering new and lovely ways by just how good our music can be reproduced is gonna sting the wallet here and there, but omg is it worth it!! What I can say my friend is that with in planet HIFI my experience you often really do get what you pay for. I'm glad you are being good to yourself. You of all people deserve decent audio gear! Enjoy eating red pills while still many of the masses suck on those trite blues. Lol |

Yup I know Always looking for the next best thing. I don't think I will be getting anything new for the next couple of years though. I am satisfied with my choices: closed cans, open, on-ears and in-ears for portable use and they all sound great...and VERY different from one another (just like I like it). Anyway if I do get to that state where I think about upgrading something, I'll look at something used. We've got a lot of Audeze, Stax and Sennheiser flagships on the second hand market - most of em looking pretty good. Plus I al way too cheap to dish out a thousand dollars on a pair of headphones. I will need a sugarmama for that. |

Klaus Schulze - Androgyn Limbus 4 - Mandalas (Madness incarnate) Saagara - 2 (should be on PA) |

Great pick David - like so much on the Instant Classic label. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend checking out Waclaw Zimpel's solo album Lines too. The dude can do no wrong in my book. Edited by Mascodagama - June 25 2017 at 06:50 |

Duly noted my good man, thanks a bunch
You haven't lead me astray with any of your jazz recs. The Comet Is Coming is without a doubt one of my new favourite discoveries. Channel The Spirits is right down my alley with it's combined electronic, psychedelic, devotional, mildly avant, spiritual jazzy goodness. If I could I'd mail you my cat and have her bathe you in assorted pigeon and chicken noises. Soooo soothing.
